Just saw that Atlantic posted this AK and wanted to see what you guys thought about it. I noticed it had the dimples in the receiver so assumed it was a little better than a wasr? Here is the link. You may have to copy and paste. https://www.atlanticfirearms.com/co...d-pick-up-romanian-ak-47-detail.html?Itemid=0

I wasn't sure if that was a decent deal. I hadn't been on their site in a while and was surprised at the variety of stock they seem to have. Obviously prices are a bit steep these days.

I thought so too Tailhunter - I actually follow Atlantic on Instagram and happened to see it. I should know this, but what does VPG mean? Trying to research how these compare to a sar or wasr?

Vertical pistol grip or donkey dick - vpg is a "rated G" abbreviation for the same thing.

I don't know anything about Lee Armory or the quality of this build but if we are voting on looks/aesthetics looks don't get much better than that on an AK!

Id rather have a SAR-1 or WASR and put the Romy G wood set on it...all for less money.

Factory rifle with great track record.

As burn'em brought up, Lee's track record is not the greatest. If it was built by Atlantic Arms Mfg I may feel different. Their kit builds seem to be top notch. Another guy I hear that is great is Northwest out of Nampa ID.

The folks on some other forums were a bit leery of these based on cost alone. As stated by others a new productions WASR can be obtained for less and some shellac equals your own BFPU looking wood.

A few years back Iraqi contractor aks were sold by Atlantic and these are trying to look a bit like them. They were sold for a couple hundred less and were factory rifles.

But as with all things...if you like it then it just has to make you happy..not anyone else.

Take a wasr and put romy g furniture on it and have a 10000000000+ test better rifle.

Lee Armory is doodoo. I'll take a import receiver and barrel and foreign built wasr over any us built imposter.

Speaking of which....wasrs are back on the market now. Sportsmans guide has them and so does Buds.

I've been sitting on some numbers matching, original barrel Romanian kits & i'm getting the itch to build a underfolder & a dong rifle.
