    I want, but can't afford.

Very reasonable price, imo. Can't even convert one for that price.

Think that would be a better buy than a milled Sam7 for 1200?

Ehhh...that would be a tough call. They're both equally heavy, but the SAM7 takes standard AKM parts. I guess it depends on what is important for you. Hard to say anything against either purchase.

    I would*probably* opt for the SAM7 - but IDK.

Does Vepr take standard hand guards and stocks if you wanted to change to wood?

Yeah, the value is outstanding considering conversion cost and the generally half-assed nature of most conversions. I'm not even mad about the bayo lug/cleaning rod storage, as long as they didn't change anything with the bolt or barrel quality, I'll take that all day long for $1000. Heres to hoping they'll be here after elections.
It's a big decision to make now.

Milled furniture is more limited, but then, I quite like K-Var/Arsenal's factory furniture. The milled will be more balanced, as a VEPR's barrel is thicker. I'd imagine they'll weigh in similarly, though. Both CHF/CL barrels, both have spare bolt components available on the market, both have a track record of not sucking...

If I were looking for an AK right now, I'd be a bit stuck to be honest.

About the bolt repair parts...I see the firing pin and extractor at CSS/Legion; are the retaining pins/detent/plunger/whatevers and springs also proprietary? BC I can't find those.

I could've sworn I've seen more than just the firing pin and extractor at Legion, but admittedly it's been a few months since I looked.

I was thinking of a sam7 before this, I like a classic look and the 90 degree gas block is slightly holding me up (I know I'm wierd). You can get the sam7-61 for 1198 shipped and it's in stock, the vepr is 999 plus shipping and who knows when they will have them. I wonder how long pre-order is before actual shipping...

It's not that weird... I legitimately had the opposite thought about the VEPR. "Meh, 45° block."

The lack of cleaning rod bothers me on the vepr. bayo lug; I'm indifferent.

I'm pretty partial to a cleaning rod as well.

Now if it had wood. Then we could get all giddy.

I know some moron is going to run with this but I don't care.

Meh. I could care less about a bayo lug.
