So I picked up a Colt Mark IV Series 80 on a trade yesterday. I did a serial search but as with most of their stuff nothing came back.....

The previous owner said it was mid 90's ok, no big deal.

I'm running into a couple small issues with features it has.

Pics will be below to show but it has the flat top slide, skeletonized hammer, plastic trigger, extended beaver tail and is enahnced single piece grips..... what I'm confused about is the slide and barrel are ported....... I can't find this on any other 1911/1991 from this period. See pics

Update looks to be an enhanced model based on the E suffix. The ports are what are getting me.

The porting may be (most likely is) aftermarket.

Looks like an Enhanced Gov't Model that someone had ported.

I was starting to come to the same conclusion, the porting is done well and the finish remained nice also. I'm not mad about it. Any one venture a guess on value? I traded for it the same day I picked up a PSA enhanced 1911 dual tone.

To me, the porting hurt the value a lot. I could always salvage the frame if the feed ramp hasn't been messed with. But, I'm sure that someone will like it and see it as an improvement.

Seems like the market on it got a bit smaller, the fact that it came with 9 Colt magazines and 2 rando mags might salvage it slightly.

It's enhanced but i'd say late 90's or newer. The port don't help it for sure. Probably a good shooter. What year did they start using that dam plastic trigger?

Is "porting" done in/on the barrel also?

I'm just going by the serial number and the skeletonized hammer. everything else seems legit on it and the "e" suffix in the serial indicates it is an enhanced.

As for the porting, yes the porting is both on the barrel and slide.
