About once a month I suggest that anyone who wants to be clear on NC law and related case law purchase a copy of

North Carolina Crimes: A Guidebook on the Elements of Crime

Published by University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Institute of Government. the latest edition is 2007
You can find it on amazon
    http://www.amazon.com/North-Carolina-Crimes-Guidebook-Elements/dp/1560112611
Or directly from the institute of government
    http://shopping.netsuite.com/s.nl/c.433425/it.A/id.1131/.f

I was a BLET Instructor this is the book used to train all NC Police officers in what has to be met by law to charge someone with a crime.
Every cop has one. every DA has one, and every magistrate has one on his desk.
This book will answer most of your questions about NC firearms law as it pertains to individuals.

Git it and all will be revealed

As they pertain to Law Enforcement yes, you wont find the fish and game laws, or dealer laws here.

Just had the CCH class. It would appear that the way the law is written, wearing a Leatherman on your belt in the Leatherman holster is legal. Carrying that same Leatherman in your pocket could be considered carrying a concealed deadly weapon because the law defines such as anything with a total length over "approximately 4." So even the Leatherman micro could be a problem in the pocket.
But it is still unlikely unless you happen to have really pissed off a LOE.

That is a great resource but firearms laws have changed a bit since 2007?

Pretty sure there is nothing about overall length for pocket knives in NC.

I have the black and white version, and it is a bit out of date concerning certain gun laws, due to HB 937 that went into effect in 2013. Still a good book to keep around.

To me all law type books and documents are written like the National Electrical Code if you don't have at least some formal training you can burn yourself very easily.

"Armed to the terror" is one of those vagueries that is exploited by "SWATters" to try and get gun legal owners killed by the police.
To a sane person, "armed to the terror" could mean a person walking down the street with several AK strapped across the back and one in hand pointing is at people as he walks by.
To an MDA member, it means catching even a slide glimpse of a black airsoft pistol. Total freak out.

  22. Well this brings up a thing that just happened in high point Monday night. I was charged going armed to the terror or the people. After being forced to pull my legally owned and open carried pistol on a man who said " I will kill you" then reached into his car as if to pull out a gun. I am at a loss as to what to do!

I taught womens hand gun safety classes for ten years back through the 90's. The number one question was always......When do you pull your gun out?

Always the same asnwer......When I KNOW I am threatened for life or limb.

Next question was usually but when do you shoot.

Answer......soon as it clear the holster and I get it on target.

I would tell them.......Never pull it unless you've already made up your mind you are going to fire it. Anything short of that someone is going to wrestle you for it or the same thing that happened to this guy. The azzwipe is ALWAYS going to lie!

As has been suggested, get an attorney and I would suggest say nothing more in social media or on public forums until instructed by your attorney.

Out of curiosity I hit the link to amazon and found that there is also a tab to suggest that this be made available on kindle. I would hardily recommend that everyone follow up and hit the kindle recommendation until someone at the publisher gets the message.
