Is it possible to allow shorter search terms?

I understand that it makes indexing and searching a little slower on the the server, but so many search terms for firearms are less than 4 chars.
    AAC 51T
    Sig 938
    300 blk
    STI
    GSG
    CZ 455
And on and on. Quite often I can't figure out any way to find posts I know are in here somewhere. And of course I can never find lots of stuff I don't know about, which is the point of search.

Better searches mean people find stuff easier so there are fewer duplicate threads and forsale items reach more people so that's more benefits.

Could still disallow common words. Or maybe make a list of firearm terms to whitelist in searches.

    Thanks

google - enter "[your search term] site:carolinashootersclub.com" It will search ONLY CSC for that term.

    eg: "AAC 51T site:carolinashootersclub.com": link

It's easier to use google to search CSC. The search function here sucks.

Good advice right here. Not sure why I haven't used it here. I use it lots of other places when I'm looking for something obscure on a mammoth website like our town website, .gov, and school websites, etc.

However, google search isn't going to work for The Minefield or other private areas on CSC.

Google is a workaround but I use it as little as possible. I prefer search engines that aren't direct pipes to .gov. I will see if those can limit sites. If that's the answer though why not get rid of search or use google directly on the forum search?

You can - there are some forums (fora?) where they use google as the default, or where the search software is so horrendous that Google site: is vastly superior. If that method will work with another search engine (dogpile or similar) I'm all ears...

The main downfall of the functionality of what I posted is that a lot of times the results aren't chronologically sorted. Not an issue if you're looking for a specific post/item/whatever, but with more results it can be a pain to sort through.

the folks that write the software aren't usually thinking like the rest of us.

    I searched "htperry site:Carolinashootersclub.Com"

    Perfect results.
