Found someone wantin to trade a shooter k98 for a Chinese sks. Below I will cut and paste the info he put in the ad. He is wantin 400 for his and I have 350 in mine...so either I pony the 50 or offer my 20rd sks Chinese maq.

I have a dou44 mismatched rifle that has a stamped trigger assembly, upper and lower bands. It is a Russian capture barreled receiver with an electro-penciled bolt and sits in a laminate with cupped butt plate stock. It cycles and fires ammo fine and the bore is good. It comes with reproduction sight hood, cleaning rod and capture screws. All markings are intact. I'm asking $430 shipped to your FFL by US Postal money order. OR.......

To make sure I got this correct: you have a SKS looking to trade for a K98?

K98 Info: Typically Russian capture K98's have matching barrel and receiver. From my experience most Dou 44's were not electropenciled, most done that way were Yugo or Baltic made. If it is Russian capture typically there are more peening marks from the refurb process. As for the price, $400 for a franken-rifle is okay. As with any milsurp two rules apply:
    1. Hands on/pictures are good
    2. Buy the rifle on the facts, not the story.

I like K98s.... SKSs are just meh to me... As long as the crown is good I'd do the trade. German K98s won't be getting any cheaper

Id call it even stevens. As said above, k98s wont be getting any cheaper. If you have a few SKSs, id say roll on along and grab that k98. Bottom price for a k98 is what? *at least* $350 these days with full stock. So I'd say the trade works for sure.
I like the statement above, Buy the rifle on the facts, not the story.

There is a pic of the bullet test...seems to be good to me.

Any info on the electropencilling? Clearly done in European style.

The rifle looks more like a last ditch K98 than a Russian capture. Most captures will involve the "Dirty Bird", German proof Eagle being peened off or ground off. They are both present on the receiver and barrel. Does any of the markings match the rifle, bayonet mount, stock? Price wise at $430 shipped you are in a good place.

Thanks for the pic. End of war and post war and capture K98's get pretty interesting.
