Just got the mag well/mainspring housing in and installed.

And thumb notched grip panels on. Got the sights dialed in last weekend. Happy so far.

Sweet, Ash. Sunday-go-t'meetin gun needs a Sunday-go-t'meetin holster.

I'ts like a new Snap-on wrench. It may be shiny and pretty now, but it's gonna get dirty, and soon. :)

I had a guy hit me up about trading a RO Champion on part of the Sendero I have for sale. I hope he goes through with it. That thing looks sexy. I like that magwell and those grips. Always been a tactical VZ guy, but a nice set of woods like those are really awesome.

I found the grips at Fusion Firearms, and very pleased with the fit and finish. They look MUCH better in person than their crappy pictures at their website. Thumb notched wood grips are pretty scarce. Props to @Beef15 for pointing me there.

The Smith and Alexander magwell and mainspring housing was absolutely a drop in installation, as they promised. The quality of the aesthetics of the casting (ribs, versus checkering, which is what i wanted) was good. Not "great", but good, but the finish on the magwell itself is excellent, and that is where the action is.

I was surprised that your Springer didn't have the lock on the mainspring housing. Are they not doing that any longer?

It's listed in the manual but according to Alan Smith who made my mainspring housing they quit doing that a year or two ago. I can't recall exactly how long ago he said it was.

OK, something that I've been curious about but haven't asked. What is it that you like abut this Springer over the Colt you sold? Sights?

The Colt's trigger is a wee bit better, maybe because it's broken in, maybe because it is a Colt. And I sold it to a friend down the street, so it's not the last I'll see of it.
The Colt was a safe queen only because it didn't get shot. If I don't carry a gun, or shoot it at matches, it doesn't get shot, and I just don't keep guns I don't shoot. The GI sights don't lend themselves to match shooting, especially with old eyeballs.

I found a smith to install a Bomar rear sight and fiber optic front site on it, but I just didn't want to butcher the Colt, plus have hundreds more dollars in it than it is worth.

Thanks for noting this. Planning on picking up my first 1911 after Christmas, SA RO Operator, and the smith & Alexander magwell is on my list for mods. I wish they offered other texture options like chainlink but they're also half the price of some others.

Hey is it appropriate for a staff member to threaten the life of a mere peasant.

This will work just fine (@chiefjason) and being Christmas-time hopefully Curt won't post anything I can't live without in the meantime.

And this is the mag pouch, from an earlier photo.

I ran four or five mags through it last weekend to dial the rear sight in. Was supposed to shoot with TR today, but it's raining, and my feet are cold already. Next weekend.

He probably forgot where he was, what he was wearing and what he was supposed to be doing when he got there.

It was more fun to ignore the sentence between the pictures.

The horizontal mag holder is great, especially when sitting or bending. It hides easily, too.

Jason also makes one now where the two straps snap-on instead of being sewn on so you don't have to remove your belt to put on the mag pouch. The sewn on variety (like in the pic above) has a more "streamlined" look to it, so you can trade off appearance for convenience, your choice.

Curt made mine a few years ago. It has a loop on the back. It's for a 1911 magazine. I wanted one for a Glock magazine but Curt has never heard of a Glock.

I grabbed a couple horizontal mag holders from SHTF a while back. They work well. They probably have something that will fit your plastic toy gun. :p
