    All;
Was wondering, do I have the "right" and by what NC statue (if you know) to post my property (domicile/home) against the carrying, concealed or otherwise or the display of any firearm or weapon?

Just wondering if I can prevent anyone from entering my property whether they are the plumber or the mover, or the lawn guy or even an " off duty" LEO from carrying a firearm on my property.......

    Educate me.....
    Thanks

    That's a great idea.

Go to Lowe's. Buy these signs.

It's your property. Do what you want to with it. Just keep in mind how much influence that sign really has and on what type of person.

Just wondering if this is something you want to do or if there is a neighbor or someone posting their homes, for instance.

Your entitlement to prohibit the concealment / carrying of weapons on your property by conspicuous posting comes not from a statute specifically but from your property interest, assuming that you have legal possession or control of the premises.

G.S. 14-415.11(c)(8) tells others that they are not authorized to carry a concealed handgun "On any private premises where notice that carrying a concealed handgun is prohibited by the posting of a conspicuous notice or statement by the person in legal possession or control of the premises." This statute (14-415.11) speaks to the scope and limitations of a concealed carry permit. Your property rights give you a lot of leeway.

You've asked two very different questions.

Legally of course you can post a sign. You can even ask everyone that comes onto your property if they are armed and if you wish you may ask them to leave. If they fail to leave then call the police, they are trespassing.

Your second question is nonsensical. There is no way to "prevent anyone" (and I assume by this you mean everyone) from entering your property while armed. You will deter those who are strictly law abiding and who value access to your property more highly than their right to carry, but everyone else, and especially those criminals you're probably most concerned about, will ignore your request. They are criminals, it's what they do.

Really though...I tend to agree with Jim. But, you asked for legal authority, so I gave it. Does not really address the practical problem of non-compliance.

Just curious, why do you ask?

A sign showing a backhoe and stating that you will shoot and bury what is left over would be a better sign to post.

The only way to be absolutely sure is to drop them all in a pile at the mailbox with a nice bolt gun. Easier to search when they aren't moving. That's the way we do it up here in the Durm.o_O

"All my friends are heathens take it slow. Wait for them to ask you who you know. Please don't make any sudden moves. You don't know the half of the abused............."

Okay, referencing the OP: you'd like to prevent the plumber/mover/lawn guy from entering your property armed. These are all people there at YOUR REQUEST. You've asked them there to help you with plumbing/moving/yard work etc and with no prior heads up saying they can't be armed. So you're either wasting their time by turning them around at the driveway OR turning them into criminals by them keeping quiet about their glock in the glovebox.

    Smooth move, ex-lax

Prevent? Not without force. A sign, law, words won't do it.

Build a wall. Even that's not 100%, but it helps.

You can print these for basically free. As it your property you can post them completely at your leisure.

One of the guys working on our fence was open carrying. I should have waited until they were done and right before I paid them pointed out my "no guns" sign and made them leave. Ha! Brilliant!

On a separate note, I'm going to get one of those signs from Lowes and post it on my safe. #irony

My first thought was we're being trolled, then I saw the profile says registered 2010 with 149 posts. My second thought was recalling the book Liars and Outliers by Bruce Schneier, where he says the plumber came to repair his garbage disposal and he let him in the house and didn't mistake him for a sexual competitor to mate with his wife and kill him. The book is about how we establish levels of trust in a civilized society and sounds like it might be good to put that on your reading list.

I've "made" one or more service people carrying concealed in my house (said nothing), and wondered why all of them weren't carrying (that i could tell, anyway).
