This was just gifted to me over Christmas (felt like Ralphie) and I am wondering if I should try to clean some of the surface rust off, and what is the best way to do so, or does the patina add value? It is mostly surface rust with very slight pitting. Any info would be appreciated 20161231_182117.jpg 20161231_183127.jpg 20161231_183137.jpg

Most folks say leave it alone, but I won't allow a nice old rifle continue to rust.
Oil and area and rub it with a pre-1982 penny... that will take off the rust without hurting the finish.
Also, straight Murphy's Oil Soap on a cloth, rubbed into the wood, will remove the dark places from oil stains.

Big 45 Frontier. Great stuff. We have been using it for years.
