      Mr Tuner,
Since 99 % of what and how I do to my 1911's depends on your information and opinion, a quick question, I read in some prior post a while back you were going to do a little experiment with a couple of variable rate recoil springs.......could never find the result of that experiment, may I ask the result of your findings ?,
      Thanks for your time

Your new picture explains everything. My extractor is actually further back. That means that mine is not like that.

It's not the distance from the breechface to the claw that I'm talking about. It's the amount of the tensioning wall...the area behind the claw that contacts the rim...that can cause trouble if it protrudes too far. Look at the bottom corner of the wall in relation to the bottom corner of the guide block.

I cannot figure out how to send a picture. Mine looks like the picture that you sent.

I will check it out when I get home.I will send you a picture of what mine looks like. Where would I buy a safe sided rail file?

Brownells...but they're expensive, and if you've never adjusted extractor deflection, it's best to watch it done before you try it.

First mag usually does ok. After that maybe two or three rounds a mag fail to go into battery. Most of the time I can bump the slide forward and she'll lock up. Sometimes I have to eject the round, but rarely.

Sounds like too much extractor deflection...too much of the wall that puts tension on the rim showing through into the breech area. Easy fix, but it does require a safe sided rail file.

A little over an hour from me, but doable. Describe the burp in detail. First round...last round...at random? Can you push the slide to battery or do you have to eject the stopped round and start over?

I have been referred to you by Jerek Cannon. I have a CS Tactical 1911 pistol that is giving me trouble returning to battery. Most of the time it works but sometimes it stops about just short of locking up. Jerek told me you are the person to talk to.

Hi 1911Tuner, I finally found a local store which sells Rachael Ray's. Save More has only 2 brands of the dry and picked up the Beef & Brown Rice food. I'll let you know how my Orvis likes it.
