I grew up 8mil.’s West of Apex in a big Plantation House with my grandparents. My Grandpa work with NCDOT in the Maintenance Dept. on Bulldozers and Graders. The man was strong as an OX with the kindest of hearts. Grandma stayed home, cleaning , shopping and cooking. Dinner was always ready at 5 o’clock. I was in school and after I would walk around in the woods with my BB gun until I was old enough to take the bird dogs out hunting Quail. During the summers I would be farming tobacco or mowing grass making money. Grandma would match it and put it in the bank, she opened a second account and made it mine so I could save up to buy a car at 16. Whenever Grandma would go to town she take me to the Apex Pool and leave me while she shopped. Everyday after we ate and after Grandpa rested, he would hit baseballs to me for hours or I would go with him to work on the farmers tractors and I would fish in there ponds (that was the deal) . Grandpa wouldn’t charge them a dime as long as I could fish. This will take days, but if you’re still reading I’ll add a little every time, well as much as I remember but for now I’m dun! We’ll finish up later.
