Finally Bought a AR Ill shoot,,

Picked up a M&P sport yesterday from a LGS,,,Dont think Ill get to shoot it today but really looking forward to it. Only thing I don't like is the stock on it. I want to get one like the Colt had own it. Ive been looking at them of ebay so will someone tell me the difference between Commercial and Mil-spec. Will a commercial still work.

BTW If I don't like this rifle Im going to whip some asses over the interweb,,LOL,,,Sold a AK to buy it.

Another cheap but great upgrade is the hand guards. S&W apparently saved a bit of coin by shipping them with front hand guards that are not heat shielded. If you shoot slow this won't be an issue, but if you ever start lettin the big dog eat and shooting a few mags at a time then it will heat up. I put Magpul furniture on mine and it has been great.

I like the way yours look,,Im going to copy that,,,,I took remarks you and wahoo made to make my decision on the M&P sport....Just tell me whats on your and Ill start tracking it down.

Other way around. Commercial tube has a larger diameter, so a milspec stock will not fit. A commercial stock will fit on a milspec tube, but it will rattle around a bit.

The end of the buffer tube will either be slanted (commercial) or straight (mill spec). You can see the difference in the pic that Pirate posted. You have to slide the stock off to see it. The buffer tube should be mil spec on yours.

Magpul stock and hand guards
VTac sling
Primary Arms MicroDot with the AMD riser
Hogue hand grip (fits my hand perfectly)
Magpul Angled Fore grip.

I have also used the Magpul Vertical fore grip and love it as well.

Couldn't remember. Had a friend who had one type of tube and bought the wrong stock and it wouldn't fit on at all. Thought I had it the right way based on his build...whoops
