If the last two years are any sign of what is to come, I should be dead and gone from a bear mauling this year.
I took some pics two years ago of a bear I was down in the creek with, about 20 feet from her.

And this was last year

Wow, I hope that boy and his dad are going to be okay. I know for fact the bears up that way get pretty angry pretty fast. We go up there every year and always see bears. The bears are used to being around a population of humans but I don't think the bears like it. I was grilling out last year when the two bears came out of the woods and up to the grill. We had to go in while they decided if the grill was too hot. Then we got pics and vid of the bears, that kind of aggravated them.

Are those sneakers in the bottom two pics? What happened to the wearer? Or were they just used for bear repellent?

the owner of those sneakers was up on the porch with me as seen here in this vid.

Watch the whole video, it's worth it. The black bear takes a run and a swipe at me on the porch of the empty cabin. I had knocked and saw in the window no one was in there so we were stuck on the porch. I was going to kick the door in if need be but did not want to move too much and excite the bears anymore. The were already growling at us by this time and aggravated.
