It's all about the feels. This is similar to Planet Fitness with their rules designed to coddle people who are intimidated by the sight of people actually working out reasonably hard. How are they supposed to enjoy their free pizza when some dude is grunting and sweating from lifting weights?

Similarly, how is some totally out of shape woman supposed to enjoy her guilt-unburdening 30min session on the elliptical while watching tv with some super fit chick with big tits bouncing right next to her?

Of course, if you reverse roles, the gym's reaction will be completely different.
