Just bought this off a guy who's father just died and did not want the rifle. Payed $250 for it, did I do ok? I know that some of these are worth alot, I told the guy, he said he did not care at all.

Why doesn't this ever happen to me?
I've always wanted one of these, and whats worse, is that when I was in ROTC back in high school we had 40 Garands to use as drill rifles, They were in beautiful shape with matching numbers, but they had their chambers welded shut. Used to make me sick everytime I thought of the thousands of these rifles being kicked around by 15 year olds in ROTC units across the country.
