With a little work, this will make a nice 2 person camper/ comm. shelter. Picked up a trailer off craigslist that will fit it for $350.

This is the site to look for items. I just chose NC in the search area and it gives you Bragg and Cherry Point. All kinds of stuff comes up for bid, some can oly be used for scrap. They will oad on your truck or trailer, unless otherwise noted. Medical equip can only go to a hospital or doc. One thing funny aboyt the auction site, if someone places a bid within 15 min of closing, it will extend the closing time. So no one can snip a last second bid in on you.
Winning the bid was easy, getting on base was tough- all tags on cars must be currant and match, have to open hood, trunk, glove box, all bags to be checked, no weapons on base....

Well duh... I saw the lights but did not notice that they were on the same brackets.

This the model that has the emf shielding so it does weigh about 1200 lbs. I spent most of yesterday pulling the wires that they had in it out. I was rigged for 240 with a heavy duty braker panel, way over kill for what I need. I pulled that box and will go back with something smaller. This thing is hard core in the wireing dept. It had a lot of antenna wire ( tis was a comm shack) that I am pulling and a few filters to take out interferance. I will put the lot of that on ebay- somebody will have better use than for it. I found a trailer that will handle about 2000 lbs that I am going to mount it on. I have to paint the trailer to match it- its carolina blue right now.

You'll want to put some insulation on the floor of that thing.
I've spent many many hours in one of those S250G shelters, my feet always froze. Aluminum floors suck in the cold. That thing will fit into a 3/4T pickup bed. I'd just buy a 70's M880 for $800 and put in in the back. They are easy to find with low mileage. Then you've really got a BOV.

Add some hooks for hammocks and you save lots of space. On that insulation. I have seen 1/4 of frost on exposed parts. Liberal spraying of under coating or expanding foam will greatly help the floor. That and adding a padded indoor/outdoor carpet. Nothing like stepping onto a warm soft floor. Bring it to the gathering and show it off, wc

Thanks for all the tips guys, Me and my FIL have been working on rewiring it. what the Army had was over kill for me. I have to paint the trailer that is going on, put some windows in it, put a new a/c , and paint the inside. I will keep photos to up date.

Update: I am about 65% finished with camper. I have put it on a trailer, rewired the power, put in new a/c, and mounted bunks. Still have to put on trailer lights, make bunk pads, paint... but at this point it could be used.

Looks great. Did you put one of those insulating foam boards under the plywood floor to keep out the cold that several posters said crept up through the floor?
