It was hot today so I left the waders in the truck (along with the net!) and enjoyed the cool water of the Chattooga River.
Father-in-law and I caught around 40 +/- and missed 2 very fat rainbows (left the net in the truck). The one I lost near the end of the day had to be 16-17". Could barely get my hand around him and couldn't get him on the stringer.
We caught rainbow, brown and brook trout.
Kept a nice mess and heading back again tomorrow.
Here's a few pictures.
Father-in-law with stringer of 11 that we kept between the two of us.

Man, I haven`t been to the Chattooga since college. I used to love to raft and fish that river.

Nice fish!!

Are you using Fly Rods? What fly if so? I have got to make some time to get up to the NC streams and wet a line.
No fly rods.
My fly fishing experience is minimal.
I have a 8' 4# St Croix but today we were using ultralight 5'-6' rods with 4# test line and everything from nightcrawlers, redworms, powerbait, etc.
I lost another nice one right at the end of the day. Had him on the line for nearly 5 minutes and he shook the hook about 15ft away.

We went back yesterday and tried a new spot that we had to hike into.
Saw some nice waterfalls (Pig Pen or Lick Log falls?).
We caught about 18 between the two of us.
Now where is my Calamine lotion for the poison ivy I found?

First fish of the day right where the waterfall dumps into the river wasn't even a trout but a hard-fighting bream.

I like catching bream. As wmrawls said, they fight like a bigger fish.

I am looking forward to taking the kids back to Jordan on Saturday. My wife and I are heading up to the mountains in a couple of weeks to celebrate 10 years of her putting up with my crap. :D.

Might take a fishing pole along on our hike along the Boone Fork Trail. Of course in her mind that would be more of my crap for her to put up with :D.
