I would go, but Tar Heel 3gun is the first weekend of the month and I am headed to that match. If you guys would move to the second weekend on the month you will be between TarHeel 3gun (1sr weekend) and PHA carbine match (3rd weekend) ;)

This is our first and we're trying to speed things up now, so we just fast-tracked it, but it will be a good shoot. It probably won't be every month as we are trying to mix it up. We're going to have the Boy Scouts out one Saturday, have some fun matches, and try to include something for everyone. If it turns out big, we might have this more often though. We'll see.

Well, looks like a busy weekend for many. I like the calender and will keep all this in mind. I'll let our shooting committee know so maybe next time we can have a different weekend and maybe grow the competitions.

Just out of curiosity, how many would drive from...say Knightdale, Raleigh, Winston, Asheboro, Roxboro, etc. In other words 40 plus miles for an event like this?

Its based on the level of quality the event is. When TarHeel 3gun was at DPRC we had people from WVA to FL come and shoot at monthly club matches.

How good is the match director??? Thats the question.

There aren't too many ranges very close to Knightdale, so I frequently drive an hour plus to go to a match.

I'd drive from King, don't think it's much further than PHA, I was planning to when this was announced at the PHA match, then Monday my boss decided I'd be going in to work on the second.

Saturdays (OT) is unheard of so I'll keep an eye out for a future event.

We had a good practice run through today. This was to introduce first timers to the 2 gun shoot and to let some people come out to practice their skills. This is looking like it's going to be a good program for us. By the way, we'll have a hotdog cart there along with drinks and chips, if you're hungry on the 2nd.

Thank you setting the hook into Nick and I. Looking forward to next weekend already.

Just for the record, I think a half a hole on the top corner of a hostage should be -25 seconds. Because it would make them get the hell out of the way next time;jeepshooter

Dependent on how my shotgun turns out this week I might be coming to this event. If my shotgun stays sick I will make it, if it gets fixed I will not, so by Thursday I will know.

Hi everyone,

This is Catherine, one of the two people starting up the 2 gun match at CCGCI. John and I having just gotten into a lot of this in the last few months weren't aware that there could be such an interest in working this one in on the 2nd Saturday of the month.

We'll definitely take a look at that and may move to it. We just wanted to make sure to stay away from the 3rd weekend with PHA.

If it rains Saturday we're working on a recovery plan so we can get this first one going. The second Saturday of August is one option right now.

Fingers crossed we avoid the rain! Getting this first one in and seeing how we need to work to make things better will be a big help in us working on the next ones.

John and I do plan on wanting to have one every month. They are a great way to get people out and having fun. There are other ideas and some of those we plan to pursue especially on cookout weekends at the club, things that could be done easily in a morning or after lunch in the afternoon.

If you're thinking about coming, we will post here Friday night/Saturday morning very early if things have to be held back to another day. We don't really want to wait a whole month!

Oh, for those with questions, we are shooting to basically PHA rules and scoring (Comstock). John and I really loved the setup there and we have lots of newer members and those who aren't involved with multi-gun shoots that we're wanting to pull into the sport. We wanted to do that with minimal equipment requirements to make it affordable.

As time goes on we do plan to have some 3 Gun matches and more equipment requirements (I really want to set up our 200 yard range for a long single stage event at some point as well). As our range grows we plan to grow the matches with it.

Thanks! It's been a long couple of weeks trying to get ourselves through the final organization...building another 35 target stands, forms, finalizing stages, the intro course last Sunday and more. But we're looking forward to getting it all going!
