After the shooting in AZ today the media is gearing up for an assault on our rights. Quotes I heard:
"...a semi automatic gun with and extended magazine..."
"... federal authorities are tracing the source of the gun..."
You're going to see a lot of crap in the coming days. I suspect our "allies" in the Republican party will cave right in.
I'm very apprehensive.

What people need to realize is that it's not the gun that does the crime...it's the person pulling the trigger. Sadly they think it's a gun issue, when in reality it's an issue of peolple making the wrong decisions.

Why cant they see the other side of the issue - 'It was a leftist, so we should do away with all leftists!' - wouldnt work b/c the people that make a big deal about gun issues are liberals.

"...a semi automatic gun with and extended magazine..."
And that describes what every LEO in the country carries.

I expect your anticipated assault in 2A won't be too much. There's a high feeling running in the country right now that's VERY pro 2A. I really don't expect the Reps. to cave in, since most of them were elected partially on their 2A stand.

The old, much harangued argument the antis will come up with can easily be matched with (as it has been in the past), "If only one person had been carrying - it might have made a difference."

Maybe I'm being an ostrich, but I'm not jumping at shadows, either. We've weathered worse. We need to stay calm and not fall subject to the same sensationalism the antis are so full of.

Your allies in the Republican party wrote the 1994 Assault Weapon Ban among many other anti-gun laws.

They won't have any "caving in" to do. They're on the same page already, right along with the NRA and Brady Campaign.

I'm sure all here, as I am, are deeply saddened by the loss of life, the result of a punk who seemed well known to be a ranting nut...his behavior even getting him kicked out of college for disrupting classes. Prayers and condolences are offered for all victims and their families.

But this has no effect on the media leeches who have already shifted gears and blamed Sarah Palin, the Tea Party, Glen Beck.....

The shameless scum, Paul Helmke...no surprise...has been very busy already "whoring" this shooting tragedy for political advantage :

With regards to Helmke and others criticising Sarah Palin for the choice of "target" symbols (a surveyor's symbol) on a campaign map...hopefully, the idiocy and hypocrisy of the Liberal rantings will come out in truth as well...here are graphics of campaign maps, used by the Democratic Leadership Committee and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee in past elections...apparently, it was OK for Liberals to use bullseye graphics to designate Republican challengers :

True...these media pukes do not enact legislation...but rest assured the mass media spin and lies will continue to elevate over the next few days.

I'm not saying this will come to pass in this instance, but do not discount it and be less vigilant in keeping hard won freedoms and pro 2A progress we've seen. You only need to look back to the 60s, after John Kennedy, Martin Luther King, and Robert Kennedy were assassinated....these events, along with the emotional American populace who then swung in favor of gun control, is what got us the Firearms Control Act of 1968.

Certain persons like to blame the NRA for that...you want to place blame somewhere, place it where it lies...with the 80% of Americans who allowed themselves to have their common sense and desire for freedom and liberty be overuled by emotion in favoring gun control at that time in history.

The thing with politicians is this, and the new Republican House Speaker said it today..."An attack on a public servant is an attack on all public servants." In reality, this isolated incident likely will not materialize to that...but that's their perception. Don't think for a moment these politicians will not work together, bipartisan, in self preservation...the People's freedom and liberty be damned.

Regards,

MD

Apparently you have no ****ing clue what you are talking about...

The 1994 AWB vote record was as follows:

In the Senate:

YEAs 61
NAYs 38
Not Voting 1

Only 7 of the yea votes was for the bill. That is for the final bill... For the amendment that added the AWB only 9 Republicans voted for it.

In the House:

YEAs 235
NAYs 195
Not Voting 5

Of that, Dems voted for the bill 188 to 64. Republicans voted against it 46 to 131.

Course if you do the math that shows that both the House and Senate were controlled by Democrats in September of 1994 when that bill passed, a full 2 months before the elections that put them out of power.

How about next time you post, you do so with factual information instead of complete and utter bull****?

So Bill Ruger, author of multiple provisions of the bill, wasn't a Republican?

Bill Ruger wasn't unanimously elected a lifetime member of the NRA after his actions?

By your own admission Republicans voted for it.

How about the next time I post you don't have a Republican brain seizure brought on by years of partisan brainwashing.

Keltyke, I sincerely hope that you are right and I am wrong. However, I've been watching them beating the drum on the boob-tube.
Demon, they're not my allies. They're politicians which I think are lower than whale shat.

So if any member of a specific group does something wrong, you demonize the whole group? Course it was the same political party that allowed the law to sunset 10 years later...

As for what Bill was, I cant find anything one way or another saying what political party he was, not that it matters one person certainly does not define an entire group. I would dare say that the direction his son has taken the company has gone a lone way to repair Ruger's reputation as a company.

Course SAMMI also supported the regulation, I dont hear you bitching about them.

"...a semi automatic gun with and extended magazine..."
News tonight stated that the shooter used a Glock 19 with ext magazines. He fired around 25 shots and had 100 rounds of ammo on him. He had "legally" purchased the handgun at a Sportsman's Warehouse in Tuscon back in Nov. They also stated that the congresswoman owned the same handgun herself.

Hey blackhawk, what channel reported that??

She's firmly in "see I tried to do something" mode. Nothing of substance is going to pass. Best she would get through the house this year would be some form of tightening on mental health reporting.

I bet within 2 weeks we also hear about the "Blair Holt" bill being introduced for at least the 3rd congress (it failed to make it out of committee the last two), and again the boards will go nuts and the dealers at the gun shows will again make it out as something new and about to be enacted.

I heard it on CNN and it was from a NY Times article about the offices of some Democratic House members being vandalized last spring when the health care bill passed the House. She was quoted as saying "I have a Glock 9mm and I'm a pretty good shot." Sad irony considering that was the weapon of choice for this nut. I really hope she doesn't change her very friendly 2A stance after all of this.

Problem is the leftists KNOW it's the person, not the gun. Just like every idea they have, they can't admit that- they have to lie, misrepresent the issue, so the dumbies who believe them will fall for it.

Couple of quick things- 1, I have heard 500 times it's either the Tea Party's fault or Palin's..Clyburn D-SC) was on TV blaming the Tea Party, Palin and the crosshairs, Rush and Glenn Beck. 2, we all know obama appointed known communists and marxists- ref: Van Jones- obama has stated himself that socialist ideals are best for the USA- and now the big part- this nutcase-shooter said his favorite books are Mein Kampf and the Communist Manifesto. Based on obama's appointees, and the shooter's chocie of books- it is obvious he is more aligned with obama than the Tea Party. But get ABC or CNN to put that on our TV screens.
