My friend's dad told me that 9mm would only piss someone off but that .45 would intimidate robbers for miles around.

I wouldn't stand in front of my 9mm....nope, wouldn't do that at all...
But .380 is for girls, right?
I wouldn't stand in front of that one either.....but, if you feel a crazy moment coming on.....take a Prozac.

I went with a .22, but thanks.

I'm not going to if you don't. You first.

The only real difference between the popular calibers is how many bullets their bulk allows you to keep in your gun at any given time. They are compromise rounds when you should have a rifle but for whatever reason you're under-armed with just a handgun.

You can never be too sure, so I alternate 9mm and 45 ACP every other round in my gun & mags.

And here I was thinking I was the only one that did that.....
Caliber isn't as important as shot placement.

100% right.

They all suck.

shot placement is important if you use 9mm. Everyone knows that 45 is the amazing death ray of modern times and the mere wind of fmj 45 whizzing by will knock down the bad guy.:)
John Moses Browning made his holy weapon in .45 caliber for a reason. Those evil Nazis had 9mm's. And so if you have a 9mm, you are a Nazi. So I carry a .357sig.

It must be true. Here's a reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Godwin's_law ;smileygun

I'm with Slayernut, but I think caliber plays a role. Otherwise, the FBI is wasting a TON of money testing.
How would it be a waste on money for testing?

caliber is a non-point, speed and how the bullet is designed is key.

Anyone that tells me a 9mm is a uselss caliber, let me know we can meet up, I will shoot you with my 9mm and lets see how weak the round is then.

Point taken.

Its like the old thing of 22lr not being a killing round. I say BS.

To many people get focused on hardware and not software.

In this day and age we should all know software is the key.

Some smart alec in class was bragging about his big bad Les Baer 45 and all the knock-down power it had. Lead Instructor told him to take off walking down range and he's shoot him in the back with (1) 9mm and (1) 45 round, then "tell me which hurt the worse."

Shut him up for a little while, plus the rest of us had a good giggle at his expense.

"If you want to stop a threat, shoot it with a 45. If you want to kill it, shoot it with a 22." I forget where I heard that...
