Well, my baby girl turns 13 tomorrow and I took today off to do fun stuff with her. Imagine my pride when she said, "Can we go to the range?"

"Absolutely!"

We packed a few of my toys and one of hers, a Marlin 75 with a Simmons Rim Dot red dot.

She absolutely wore the 25 yard target out.

She's mastered safe reloading and gun handling and really made me proud today with how well she did with a cheap red dot, crap ammo (Remington bulk) and little to no rest.

In between shooting my 10/22 TD and coaching her, I was shooting an NEF .243 at 100 yds.

She asked to shoot the "far target". I asked if she wanted to use the .243. She said "No, with my gun."

Now Immediately I start thinking, with a cheap red dot that's probably not gonna work well......I was wrong....

She proceeded to put 9/9 on paper at 100 with the .22 and dot. Somehow I missed getting a pic of that target, but I got this 6/7 effort. She had a feed jam on this string and I kicked an extra out clearing it. Hence 7 fired instead of 9.

I managed to acquit myself rather well with this group at 100 with a tech sight equipped 10/22 TD.

I did not turn her loose with that one in fear of being shown up by the teenage girl........:)

That is too cool. I tok mines to an appleseed when she was 13. She got her patch on the 2nd day of her first event. She still reminds me that it was my 3rd event (her first and only) to get my patch.

Jj got a car and hasnt been since. I am hoping she comes back to it when the car deal becomes so/so and a everyday thing.

You are a lucky guy. I can remember taking my daughters to the range for some wonderful time together of shooting and hanging out. They are now grown women with families of their own. Fond memories flood my mind as I looked at the picture of your lovely girl and reflected about my own beautiful girls and the fun times we had. The only consolation I take away is that now I have beautiful grandsons and grand daughters to take to the range and spend some wonderful time with. It is just like it was years ago and I feel just as young and important to them as they are to me.
Enjoy the time and treasure it because it go's by so quickly and in a blink of an eye while you are not looking it will be gone.
