Yes, I have been getting a lot of requests lately for all types of logos... including Masonic.

To the OP, that has to be the first time I've ever seen a masonic emblem on a pistol. Do you get that request much?

Good point!! When your selling it's called patina, but when your buying it's called wear or worn out.
Wear marks from usage are always character marks. If you don't have them, go shoot some more. :)

Depends in the gun, too.

Rust in a Glock is rust and makes you wonder just what sort of severe use/misuse it's seen.

Just a hint of rust on an 80 year old Colt is petina and adds more character.

I couldn't agree more...

I'd like to thank John Connor, Roy Huntington and American Handgunner Magazine, since the article came out about our custom work. We have picked up business from Hawaii to California and the orders just keep coming in.
Thanks again for everything your fine magazine has done for our business. Sincerely, Jim Toner President TMT Tactical/Toner Machining Technologies

I gotta be honest... this newer finish just refuses to wear. My 26 has over 3000 rounds through it, and it's JUST starting to show some wear on the barrel.

Still no holster wear, though. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I mean look at this... it looks brand new, it's disgusting!

Yeah, my gen4 had at least that many through it. I told the guy whom I sold it to about that and he just kind of gave me the "whatever bub" one eye raise. If you see a gen4 with a barrel hood worn completely of black, it has got to be getting close to 10K

I agree with y’all about the tougher finish on a Gen 4. We really notice it when we machine the press check pockets and other machined features or whenever we glass bead a Gen 4 slide to prep for Nickel Boron plating or Cerakote.

I just wish I'd at least get some minimal holster wear lol... I mean come on, I won't get any tactical cred with a new-looking gun!

ForumSurfer, how do you like the brass bead in low light?

I no longer have it, but....

Day light = Awesome. A step below fiber optic in terms of visibility,
Low light = Pretty great. More visible than a white dot or fiber optic.
No light = What sight? It will reflect any small light source that is facing it (behind you) or it looks great with the flashlight on.

Do not polish the brass. Ever. That little thing will blind you when it catches direct sunlight from behind you. You'll be flinching at that point since there is a tiny little sunshine on your front sight searing your eyeballs. If you polish it, it's completely ruined for outdoor use until you get some patina on it.

That was a 10-8 brass bead. It's their low budget version of the good ol gold bead front sight.

Of course that's just my lowly opinion.
