I have been a photographer for 20 years. I have had some very nice equipment and have traveled to other countries hauling multiple pounds of gear around my neck. I am so amazed by the simplicity and quality of my iPhone pictures that it is all I ever use now.

Just a snap of one of my cats which I would have missed had the phone not been in my pocket.

Photography is about the moment, I have rediscovered that and it makes me glad.

Big difference from the 4 that I have. I still use a 16.0 camera since my iphone 4 has so much less resolution. Next phone I get may retire the camera.

I've been impressed with mine as well. Not that I have a lot of experience there. I posted this in another thread under this one. My 13 yo daughter took this. You can make out the smoke from the shot, the wadding, the shot ball, and the clay. And I zoomed in to crop the pic. That was all I did to it. And if you zoom in further there is an airplane up there you can make out.

And this one of a clay busting.

Took this while out for a jog. I am no master, but indeed the fact that the phone is always on your person makes it easy to catch quick shots you'd normally miss.

I think having $2000 glass and expensive bodies perhaps make us love photography less. It becomes about the perfect exposure, the shot that justifies our expenditure of thousands. We must have the shot that wows our buddies and peers.

Sort of like any other hobby. I have never had the pure joy I experience when plinking with a .22 in any other type of shooting. The more money you spend on rifles and optics it just becomes less fun and more work. The simple joy and skills you learn when just snap shooting cans and pine cones is lost.

When I am just in the moment, with no preconceived expectations (my own and those of others) I have found a new and fresh love for capturing life.

There is a place for high end glass and 3lb bodies. I have discovered though that the place for them isn't around my neck.

The simple happy feeling of being alive and being able to capture that in pixels with a tool that weighs ounces has changed how I see the world. Dramatic LOL, I guess I am a little but being free is what I am about in this stage of my life.

Morning dew, cool crisp air and walking out to the mailbox. Is it as sharp as a F2.8 Nikor lens, of course not. Does it matter? No. Look at the water in the center of the flower. Look at the dewdrops. Feel the cool air? Hear the quiet?

I agree the point isn't the brand, although it needs to have a certain amount of quality.

I am not planning to shoot anything for others ever again. I just do it for me now. I almost lost the love, glad I got it back.

It's amazing how far cell phone cameras have come...just compare the specs of an iPhone 6 to that of a point and shoot camera from a fews ago. The fact is that as long as you have a modern smart phone in your pocket you never have an excuse to miss a great photo moment.

And lets not discount the great HD video capabilities of smart phones either...I shoot a lot of HD videos with my iPhone 5 and have tossed all of my other video cameras that I had bought for family vacations.

The ability to tweak in the tool, upload or post from the tool or just send it to your loved ones is just icing on the cake.
