Anyone watching American Guns on Discovery Channel?

I watched to first one. It was painful in many respects. 5K to do a one off knuckle gun. Pitiful. Don't know who one the twit contest in that group. The main guy is about three bad decisions away from working in a job that requires a paper hat.

It is sure to be a ratings success. Stupidity, over the top drama and cute little hottie.

I may go back to it if it hits OnDemand. Fast forwarding through "Top Shot" did wonders for the show and it would probably improve this one. Plus minimal commercials. 20 minutes in an hour. Sheesh!

I watched the 1st episode. It was interesting. All the gun Gods put too much thought into these shows, they are shows. They are entertainment value for all but those that know all there is to know. Plus, the scenery is kind of nice. There is guns and breasts, I'm okay with it.

+1! I think gun nuts read too much into it, it's TV for the masses, not tv for the crazy gun nuts.

And 10k doesn't seem too crazy for a one off built from blocks of steel gun. Plus some good looking custom engraving and painting. That 21 year old is pretty dang good for being 21.

This was all I needed to see to make up my mind for me about that show. It looks no better than Sons of Guns except for a slightly less ugly woman in the cast.

The only neat thing I saw on the first one was the slow mo water balloon. The balloons on the woman are uninteresting and the others I wont talk about till next year.

At the end of the first episode watch for the father to snatch the AR15 out of the girls hands after she shoots. Smart man.

Unfortunately, I've seen both episodes so far. IMHO, this show is a trainwreck. The owner/husband/dad/a-hole/alpha-male wannabe, is a cocky, arrogant, douchebag who acts as if he's god's gift to the gun community. His attitude, IMHO, is going to put gun owners in a negative light.

His daughter, who may be eye candy to some, comes off as a ditz, who obviously does little more than walk around the store with her purse puppy, carrying a 1911 on her hip like she knows how to use it.

I can't say too much about the wife, other than the botched, cock-eyed boob job.

The shop looks nice, but just from judging by the prices they've mentioned on some of the guns, they make Gander Mountain look cheap. Their "we're the only people who can build a gun from scratch" is a joke. Seriously, how hard is it to cut a frame from a block of steel when you have a computer operated milling machine? And $10K for an 1873 Colt clone, even if built from "scratch"?

And the last episode when he "bought" the BAR for 10K and a silver bar...REALLY? And he made it seem like it was cash and carry. No one in their right mind with a Korean war era C&R/transferable BAR would take 10K. Even if it was a dealer sample, 10K still sounds cheap.

I could rant and rave about this show all day, as I really don't care for it. I think Discovery smelled blood with the success of Sons of Guns and ran with another show. Who knows, maybe I'm in the minority and the show will do well, but I doubt it.

Just watched the second episode. Wow. Yea I wish I would of known about the 10K BARs. I would of taken a second mortgage out and bought them all. About killed himself and the pastor. 10K for a colt? Wow. I have a feeling it cant be that much to make. How about the son messing up that engraving and then filling and duracoating the whole Barret? I wonder how the customer felt about that?

American Guns

Just watched the first episode today, after seeing part of episode 2 yesterday.
I too believe that the super success of Sons of Guns obviously called for another
gun show. The difference is I think that the producers of this one also do the
Pawn Stars. The way that its shot, the interviews to the camera, even the
music bed was the ones used on so many episodes of that show.

Of course the gun industry is currently enjoying the success that the motorcycle
industry enjoyed in the previous decade. This in part due to the economy, i.e.
Harley-Davidson motorcycle....$7000-35,000
Glock G17 $500

No wonder the Teutle boys on American Chopper are in foreclosure and
suffer ratings losses on Discovery! Just my .02 worth.....
