I purchased the Cmmg device that looks like a 556 shell that allows for a 22 to work in a AR -15 . I have never tried it . Anyone else have one? Is it a safe piece of gear or something that I will have trouble with?

I have one. It works really well. It likes plated bullets better than lead but other than that it’s pretty reliable. Accuracy is good enough for plinking. Just don’t forget to shoot a couple of 5.56 rounds after shooting .22 to clear out the gas system.

Okay thanks for that, I bought it a year or so ago and I put it in a ammo can . I ran across it and look forward to trying it out soon.

Try it. They are a lot of fun. Especially if you have an AR pistol.

best little money saver ever. have ran 10,000 plus in the last 10years as long as good .22 long rifle ammo works fine 30 rd mags. very few jams have mag dumped many a time without any problems. IT's Grrrreat

I took this thing out and it was a blast to shoot. It looks like it will probably save me a few bucks it ammo. I think I will let my oldest grandson try it next. Of course I am teaching him gun safety before I allow him to shoot.

I have had mine for about 7 years. Works as intended with no problems. I also heard someone suggest if you wanted a binary trigger on your AR you would also have a 22lr binary with the Cmmg conversion.

Had a good experience with 2 of them, even had an old Ceiner one for a time. Loading mags is honestly the biggest annoyance for me. I can’t bring myself to load more than 3 and yet they are empt so quickly..:

I have 2 sets my daughter and I shoot them regularly. Literally 1000s of rounds through them. I've come home many days with sore thumbs from loading those for her. Lol They are not exactly tack drivers through the 5.56 barrel but out to 75 yards they are well within what I call acceptable. Our range has a nice little rimfire section with steel knock down targets yesterday she hit 68 with the 75 rounds in the 3 25 rd magazines. Made her daddy pro

I have one and I love it. shoots great in my 7" ar-15 pistol and also great in my 20" ar-15 build. Just swap out the bolt load the mags and shoot away.

I had a cmmg full upperthat shot pretty decent. I was wondering about the conversions with a 223 barrel with a 1 in 7 twist? Most 22‘s are 1 in 16”?

Mine seemed to shoot fine at close distances. Didn't try to stretch it out because I was using subsonic ammo at the time. Was pretty accurate to my surprise.
