I am thinking about using Rit dye to do a custom camo on the Magpul furniture on my AR. I'd like to do all the furniture...stock, grip, handguard, and the one FDE mag that I have. I know there is quite a bit of info out there about the Rit dye process but I am curious if anyone has specifically dyed over Magpul FDE. I want to try the plastic bag method with hopes of a pattern similar to the photo below.
Kinda curious as to how FDE takes the dye and what color or colors might get me something similar to the photo. Also curious if one wrap and dye cycle will be sufficient or if it might produce a better pattern to wrap and dye in one color, say maybe a darker brown than FDE, and them rewrap and dye a second color, maybe a foliage green or similar. Thoughts and experiences?
