No link yet. But here's the Breaking News headline from Fox:

ATF DECIDES TO SHELVE PROPOSED BAN ON POPULAR TYPE OF BULLET AMID STRONG OPPOSITION FROM MAJORITIES IN HOUSE AND SENATE

Well, I was rich on paper for awhile there, what with my 223 ammo all shooting up so high in value. Now I'm poor again. This is quite a blow.

Seriously, it seems like this is very good news--ATF tried a move that the White House assured us is "common sense," and it got crushed. In the area of "let's take a chance at this and see how it goes," this was a crushing defeat for the anti-gunners. (If the news Qball is passing along here turns out true!) So, all things considered, it could be a lot worse.

Consider this a dry run. The real push will come soon.
A-yup:

The ATF said in a statement on Tuesday they would not seek to issue final guidelines "at this time." In other words, we'll wait till you're not looking again....

Some people with large inventories of recently purchased M855 for resale are going to be upset.
Good!

The ATF is shelving a controversial proposal to ban a popular type of bullet, amid opposition from hundreds of congressional lawmakers.

The ATF said in a statement on Tuesday they would not seek to issue final guidelines "at this time."

The italicized words in bold above are the important words to note here.
i get what you're saying, but I'm of the mind that it's just face-saving verbiage. That's about as clear a statement of "we don't want to have anything to do with this shit storm" as you'll get out of DC, either side of the aisle.

Sometimes I think this stuff is just a massive conspiracy to manipulate the market.

Regardless, I'll never pay scare prices for anything. I'll wait or do without.
Yep...
I've said it before...
I would dearly love to know how many dems, libs, and members of the WH admin have investments in the firearms and ammunition industry....

#18 ·
Alright, now get all that over priced sh!t out of the BST threads.

#19 ·
The only people that will be pissed are the flippers and libs,,,haha
I don't own a single rd but might buy a few hundred rounds in the future. The one thing it did do for me is it made me research it some,,,, seems to be a little better than 223

ATF to Not Move Forward with
5.56 M855 Ammo Ban at This Time

Will Review Record Number of Comments
Submitted on Its 'Framework' Proposal

ATF announced today that it will not move forward with its proposed framework to ban commonplace 5.56 M855 "green tip" ammunition at this time while it reviews the record number (more than 80,000) comments it has received so far. ATF will continue to accept comments through March 16. NSSF, as the trade association for the firearms industry, looks forward to engaging in a dialogue with ATF to address this issue that led to the now withdrawn proposal. Our industry members hope to meet consumer demand in bringing alternative ammunition products to the market and to continue to sell the popular M855 rifle target ammunition. NSSF continues to strongly urge ATF to grant 32 long-pending petitions to exempt alternative rifle ammunition designed and intended for the hunting market.

I learned many years ago to buy what I can when I can. The way I have looked at it is: Ammo will most likely never be as cheap as it is now. Inflation gets its paws on everything. Those that need 5.56 ammo to plink with, should take full advantage of the recent windfall.

I am glad we, as gun owners, had our voices heard. Dig in though, this fight isn't over..

Thanks to everyone that wrote and called their representatives.

While it is optimistic news, what I get out of John's post they are just waiting until they review all of the comments/feedback they have received before they make a decision. Not out of the fire quite yet. I would still urge everyone to send their comments in and encourage your friends also to do so if they haven't before the 3/16 deadline. Sounds like we have been heard, which is a great thing, I just hope it will be enough to prevent them from going through with it. Maybe the uninformed gougers will see the new headlines and availability will normalize again for a bit.

I think that if they continue(d) to push forward with this that they know they would (have) face(d) a few challenges, including funding, possible termination of the organization, and questioning of their legal standing that could seriously impact their ability and authority.

I think they are now looking for a way out of this mess in a manner that lets them save face, like claiming it was a clerical mistake and now saying they're effectively rescinding the proposed revisions.

Edit: and a few months ago, we had rumors that King Barry was going to try another underhanded push at gun control in early 2015.

In the minds of these libtards they truly believe its just the evil NRA and a few gun nuts who support this gun crap. Its scary how really stupid and asinine these leftest are.
What else could they possibly say?

A similar rationale underlies their insistence that gun ownership is declining based on phone polling.

If gun control advocates tell all the unarmed sheep who follow them the truth about gun ownership and the source of gun rights support (grassroots, not the NRA), the sheep may start looking around and wondering if perhaps they, too, should get armed.

KO I'm making a firm offer right now. I'll buy from some of those who are overstocked and I'll pay five no ten cents a round for some of their overstock so they can run out and buy some more 22.

I just called Tillis' office. I spoke with someone named Adam. He seemed to me to be unreceptive to my call. That's disturbing. I really wanted to offer him a few words like good old Gunnery Sgt John Vegas (God bless his soul where ever he is.) used to whisper in my ear when I was Pvt. However, I decided that it would be unproductive.
