Ok guys and gals, time to get down to business. Trying to arrange a meet up at my place for some delicious BBQ and other such things.

Here is the basic set up.

I live real close to downtown Fuquay Varina. Which is decently central to Raliegh, Cary and Fayetteville.

Few downsides to get them out of the way.

1)My place is smallish around 740 square feet. So everything needs to primarily stay outside. Particularly in the parking area. But, the proximity to Fuquay public parking (next to the police station) makes is super easy to shuttle people via some quick carpooling. Which if needed CDamn has offered the use of what sounds like a troop carrier.

    2) One bathroom. Use it wisely. :)

    Pretty much it.

Other than that I have a decent sized freezer, nice open field in the back that I keep mowed and is vacant. Quiet road, good size fire pit, and a decently sized covered area in case of bad weather. With ability to expand the covered area in case of bad weather.

I have tables, chairs and can probably procure more easily enough. With good weather and communication I can handle a good number of people at my place. Long as ya'll stay outside. :)

Few other things before I forget.

Beer and other booze is fine. Just be responsible.
    Same with guns.
However, one very strict rule I have. If you have the gun, don't drink on my property. I don't mind either separately, combine them and I will ask you to leave.

Kids are also fine as are wives, boyfriends or what have you. I have a 3 year old and a 4 year old. If there are lots others in that age range I can set up some fun activities for them.

I work 3rd shift and do a bunch of side work, so PM me with questions or whatnot, but there will probably be somewhat of a delay.

I am thinking maybe a partial potluck type thing going on?. Post if you want to bring something. If we get enough people I will probably see into renting a pig cooker. Especially since we have all these BBQ recipes from members here.

If you have food allergies, are vegetarian, vegan or your kids do Send me a message and I will make sure there is something for you as well. I will also make arrangements if anybody has issues walking or some such.

More probably to come. Just wanted to get this thing started.

Also. I am very close to both gunstores in fuquay. and the you can practically see both of them from the public parking lot.

Just a basic list to give ideas. I have tables to set up, and a few chairs but not many.

PM me or post here if you have ideas on the expansion of this list.

Also Toddje mentioned maybe wanting to get a porta john for this shindig. What say ya'll?

I just have the one bathroom FYI, and so far looks like around 30 people will be coming.

I am not opposed to it, but am rather strapped on time and energy to handle the backend of the process, but if it is deemed a good idea and someone can help me out with the logistics we can probably get one set up in time.

I'll try to make Lunch and hang around a bit and visit some of you guys up that way, then off to E-town for the Southeastern CSC Dinner @ 7pm after the Fayetteville gun show.

I'd be game, and can bring some meat for the grill or snacks or whatever.

If he shows up...not for long. On a side note. The guy wears less clothing than CDamn at Rocky Horror showing.

Lol. When I was a kid I used to get fussed at for saying both names together. Either we were in Varina, or fuquay.

    Yes!!!

I don't have a grill at the moment but will most likely be able to procure one for this event, or earlier.

Anyone have any special things they tend to bring? We can get a menu started up. Get people drooling.

Bumped again. Also I might have a solution to my parking issue. Should be able to hold a dozen cars, if I get it worked out.

This is true. You'd never think the guy could cook, but he proved me wrong.

That's not cooking... but I can cook my ass off... Here's a small example...

Mustard/Pino Grigio braised pork belly with grilled asparagus and a pan sauce over homemade pimento mac&cheese

    pork belly.jpg

Then with the leftover belly and pimento I made grilled pork belly/spinach tacos for lunch

    porkbellytacos.jpg

This was a low-carb dish too believe it or not. About 12 grams for the 1st, 15 grams for the tacos. That includes the pasta and tortillas...

I think if you throw out menu areas you need filled in, people will fill those holes.

    Dips?

I thought this is a BBQ thread?

    Pork Spinach Tacos?

Are we still in the Carolinas? That kind of food has never made it into my home. :D It's a bit fancy for us rural area sotherners.

    LOL
