Nice healthy looking critter. I'm guessing you don't have a rodent problem around your place.

between the 2 hawk families and big black snakes, I don't have anything small, furry, with four legs anywhere.

On another note...I was cleaning out the barn for some round bales, and saw a rat. one of the super fed barn cats was lying 1 foot from him and didn't even care to look at it. My 10/22 on the other hand...

 

We have one about the same length and much bigger around--he comes around about twice a year and everyone in the neighborhood leaves him be.. death and rodents and Copperheads as well !

Give you 20 bucks for him live. I need more copperhead eaters! I have only one confirmed BRS on my place....I need 10. Funny thing is I saw the BRS the day of the copperhead incident, he was not 20ft from where the copperhead was and seemed to be heading that way when the dogs spotted him. I feel pretty sure he was hunting the venomous creature. I told our blue healer mix to let the snake be, he is a friendly....you know that dog understands me? The JRT however did NOT understand.
Almost a week later I am still hunting a copperhead.

Been dry at your place more than normal lately?

 

I think it's dryer lately throughout NC and the South. I was glad to see a bit of a storm last night and now that Butter mentions it.... I have seen a ton dead on the road lately... Might be something to your thought...

 

No doubt we've finally dried up a bit, at least around here. I've been noticing a bunch of road kill snakes as well. We had a big corn snake, about 5 feet long, a few days ago on our driveway.
