Just got back from my first Bowling Pin match...OH MAN! Is that addictive or what?!

I haven't had that much fun shooting in a long long time. Great bunch of guys, well run match and just tons of fun. If you've never gone, find a match NOW!

I took 3 out of 4 matches to win the Revolver division (all 2 of us...), I think I won 4 of 6 matches with the 1911, got beat (and beat bad!) by a girl for my final elimination.

Shot at Allan Arms in Greenville, SC.

what do you do to win ? knock down all the pins
It's "head to head" against another shooter. 5 bowling pins (per shooter) are lined up on a table about 8-10 yards out. Range officer says "Fire!" and the first one to knock all of his pins OFF the table (not just knocked over) wins the match.

So, if you just knock a pin over, you have to keep shooting at it until it's off the table.

For "minor power" loads, 9mm and such, the pins are set 1 foot from the back of the table. For "major power" such as .45, the pins are 2 foot from the back.

For you young bucks out there, it goes way back. We called it 'pin bustin'.:thumbup1: Go to your local bowling alley and ask them what they do with their worn out pins. We just like splitin' the hell out of them. They make great targets.:25:

This is what they give out when ya do good! ;-) (braggin pic)
I love pin shootin. Never heard of a minor/major division split but i can see why it's done. It certainly pays to "use enough gun".

It's pretty neat, when you have a kids division they cut the tops off the pins right about where the red line is and shoot them with .22s from about 1/2 the distance.

What nights do they shoot there, and what's the entry fee?
