I have called deer with the estrus can, doe bleats, and buck grunts. It's not about the call though. It's about the deers mood. I have been completely ignored by a deer that could defiantly hear me. I've personally had no luck with antlers. Might try it some next week though. If it works, they will come running like they are on a string. I had a doe come to a doe bleat during the rut. She must have been the alpha doe, because she was pissed! She came running in, grunting and pitching a fit with 7 others in tow. I have had bucks sneak in on me when using the estrus can. I was using it the evening I shot my 8ptr, but can't be positive that's what did it. I pulled an 8 ptr off of a doe he was chasing with 3 good doe bleats. He ran within 5 feet of the tree I was in, but never slowed down for a shot. Keep trying it, just understand it does not always work like on TV. But when it does, it can be REALLY effective.

INKSPOT74 -- how do you handle the climbing stand in the dark? I am thinking of going that route and have not figured that part out!
I'll second a head lamp. But even more important, just use it. I can put mine together or take it apart in the dark with just a little ambient light. I try not to use a light unless I have to in the morning. Use it for a few evening hunts to get used to it. You get to do the set up in the daylight. And keep some pruning shears or a saw with you if it's the first time up the tree. Nothing worse than getting 8 feet up and realizing you can't get past a limb!
