I have been contemplating picking up a CZ 75 Shadow or possibly the SP-01. During my research I came across the Canik/Tristar line of CZ clones. I have yet to read or hear a bad review on these guns and the price is definitely attractive at under $400 shipped. I also seen that David @ CGW is offering his custom services for these guns which would lead me to believe they are quality guns. Do you guys have any experience with these?

I am looking at the S-120 (75 Clone)

or the P-120 which is the SP-01 clone

Please share your thoughts and or experiences. Thanks in advance!

Honestly, no specific need really. Just thought it would be an inexpensive way to test the CZ (steel frame, DA/SA) waters without dropping the $600+ it would take to get an actual CZ. It could end up in an IDPA match or two as well. I am a striker fired guy from experience so it would be a learning curve for me but I am up for the challenge as this style of gun seems to be all the rage in the competitive shooting world these days.

Score a deal on GB and sell it off if you have regrets.

If you love it, you'll have a sought after CZ. If you buy a Tristar, you'll have a knockoff that will be hard to sell off at a good price.

What I'm getting at is the CZ will hold its value much better.

I'm in the market for a CZ 75 SP-01 Tac and there is no way I'd buy a Tristar for the false savings. If you love it, you'll want the CZ and be out more money trying to turn over the knockoff.

Buds has the poly Witness with .22 conversion for under 400$

9mm/22 out of stock for a while now.

I have noticed that the Witness like the Match Elite have gone up in price a lot recently. Used to be like $580 now closer to 700$.

Had one of tristars. It is less expensive but not worth the savings. Hard to sell/trade after getting it. Bluing is not up to the CZ standards .
The Cz is only way to go have a CZ 75 in 9mm and hard to replace it,,

Plus you can get a 22lr conversation barrel as well.

I didn't realize the Elite Matches had a price increase, they were in $500s a short while ago. J&G Sales as police surplus CZ 75s in 9mm for $349, probably a better option than the clone in this case if that is what you were looking for.

I don't think the price difference is worth getting a knock off. I could see if it was a $500+ difference, but seeing as it's only a few hundred I would spring for the higher quality and better resale value retaining CZ.
I have a SP01 and a P01 and they are two of my favorite pistols.

Better total dollars resale value with a CZ, but I doubt you'll get a greater percentage of your purchase price with...and in terms of what you get back from what you've spent, THAT'S what you've got to really measure.

I'm a big CZ fan, but I'm not sure that quality is all that different in any of the guns based on the CZ Pattern. Customer service might be where you see the difference, if buying a USED gun.
