I'm under the assumption that bugging out, or just trying to move around after SHTF, involves carrying a lot of important gear (water, food, clothing, medical kit, lights, radio, etc) as well as various firearms, likely a rifle/carbine and a handgun.
What are the thoughts around having both in the same caliber? Pistol in 9mm and an AR in 9mm, or both in 10mm if you're a baller, or a wheelgun and lever gun in .45 colt, etc, etc?
One ammo to carry, move rounds between guns as needed, but pistol cartridges out of the carbine aren't as good as carbine cartridges out of a carbine. What's more important? Flexibility or simplicity?
