Chicago Records Deadliest Day In 13 Years As City Spirals Out Of Control

Last week the Chicago Tribune pointed out that nearly 100 people had been shot in Chicago in less than a week. 9 people were killed on Monday alone marking the deadliest day for the city in 13 years. Now, with weekend data out, turns out the story is even worse. For the week ended 8/13, a total of 110 people were shot in Chicago with 24 of them killed. YTD statistics indicate the city is spiraling out of control with total shootings up to 2,621, a mere ~50% YoY increase, with 445 total homicides.

The current homicide rate through August indicates the city is on pace for over 700 homicides in 2016, a 63% increase from 2015

Yea right, you think the ones doing the shooting and the ones getting killed are all working, tax paying citizens. ;)

Man, I know my sack is a good size but didn't realize you and Tailhunter could ride at the same time. What is there to post about exactly? Would you like me to add to the chorus of "let them kill each other" while conversely asking "where is BLM?" as if the person stating the former gives a damn about the latter?

The democrats mantra is that the Illinois gang members get their guns from Indiana; my reply is why travel back to back to Chicago, can't they practice their craft in Indiana?

Chicago has basically become lawless and crime infested because the gangs are greasing the wheels of the ride, plain and simple. It's basically the same crap that Al Capone did. I for one do not care that much about Chocago because it does not affect me. I do care about the people affected thou that are good honest people that have lived in The Windy City all their lives. I agree BLM, WLM, NRA, GOV all the little "groupies" are ignoring the fact that there is s gang problem and using it to thier own ideological advantage. We can blame rahm Emanuel, Obama, Trump, Killery, heck we can even blame Krabba if you want to but, until all parties involved unite to fight together and get people that are not scared then it won't get better

Not really. Just like every other large city, there are really bad neighborhoods where the crime is concentrated. And there are other relatively safe neighborhoods. Where do you think all of Chicago's politicians live? Not in the ghettos that their policies fuel.

Rather than thinking of the country as safe cities vs violent cities, it's much more accurate to think of the country as mostly safe, with small pockets of ultraviolence. The antigunners will never speak of this, preferring instead to focus on a meaningless national average for stats like gun murders. It's like taking the average of how far a class of 6th grade boys can toss a football along with Mike Vick. The result is pretty meaningless. Were they to highlight that the vast majority of violence is concentrated in a relatively small number of neighborhoods, the average person might figure out that the 'sea of guns' washing over America isn't the problem, and might want to look at what those ultraviolent neighborhoods have in common. But that's a discussion that antigunners and the left will desperately want to avoid.

Listen..it's Bush's fault. I'm sorry, no I'm wrong in blaming Bush. He's a Republican. Chicago has been a Democratic stronghold forever it seems.

Interesting reading below to remove all doubt that Bush could possibly be blamed for anything in Chicago.

See Captain Kirk above for my reaction.

They have the gun laws they want, the leaders they want, and the system they want. What's a little 'collateral' damage?

You can be sure that some will continue to bring this 'system' to a town near you.
