I have a couple of questions ive searched long and hard to no avail.
I haul gas here in nc and cannot find anywhere the law states if it is legal or not to carry in a cmv that is placarded as hazmat. Y'all seem so useful as just about any question asked here is quickly answered

thx in advance

I asked a DMV officer at the weigh station in Charlotte that question and he said as long as it is not concealed. BUT--then one hears that none are allowed in any CVehicle. Will be working with troopers Sunday and will try to ask that question. wc
ETA: just got off the phone with a Lt. with the NC patrol. He said there is no difference in the carry laws of commercial vehicles and private ones. Wanted to make sure and hope it helps. A lot of trucking companies do not allow firearms on their property so just be aware of their regs. wc

I am not 100% sure if this is true, but my father inlaw is a truckdriver and he told me that it is illegal to have a firearm in any commercial vehical.
We get a lot of truckers at the hotel I work at and they are barred by both company policy and DOT regs from arming themselves while driving. They can't even personally carry a utility knife without technically being out of compliance.

Those truckers may own their own trucks
which would mean that the only things keeping every trucker from carrying would be company rules and not state or federal laws. (that would make them different from any other citizen)

private truckers still have to follow the same laws as companies do they not?

Does this help?

Title 18 Setcion 926(a). The peacable journey law.
TITLE 18--CRIMES AND CRIMINAL PROCEDURE

Sec. 926A. Interstate transportation of firearms

I did find this little tidbit from OSHA.

This changed on February 13, 2008 when OSHA issued a new standard REQUIRING employers to provide appropriate PPE when the equipment is necessary to protect employees from job-related injuries, illnesses and fatalities. There is to be NO COST to employees. The rule must be fully implemented by May 15, 2008.
Can't we argue that our employers must provide us with at least a .45acp if we have to drive through/deliver to/ be in dangerous areas? Afterall, there are times when I can't think of any personal protection better than a firearm. :D
