I have a model 1912 20g that I am wanting to cut down to look like the picture below. It is my understanding that as long as the barrel is min 18in and the over all length is not less than 26in, I’m good. Is this correct?

I would not mess up an old gun like that. Sell it and buy a mossberg home defense shotgun.

Yes, the shotgun would be legal but in a practical sense it would be worthless to shoot plus if carried in public you are guaranteeing yourself an inspection by the local fuzz.

Leave the buttstock at full length and the barrel at 24 inches. In the future you’ll be glad you did. If you ever used the above pictured example in a personal defense situation the prosecutor will claim you are a murderer looking for a victim by design. Better to defend yourself with a ‘bird gun’.
