Just awful. CNN is reporting up to 50 wounded and at least one suspect is in custody. Allegedly there was tear gas set off in the theater and the assailant was wearing a gas mask.

Fox is saying that the FBI is on the scene.

Also, "incendiary devices" were in the suspects car and he reporedly said at his house as well.

 

And our lawmakers think that there is no reason to CCW in a place that charges admission...

 

And with police on the scene, it still manages to happen.

 

One rifle and two pistols recovered. Apparently the suspect was apprehended at/near his car and had the rifle and a handgun on his person with the other handgun found in the vehicle.

 

How long before they try to tie this to concealed weapons permit holders?

The suspect in custody is a male in his early 20's. No surprise there I suppose.

 

Word is, he was wearing a vest and used a rifle.

 

Keep in mind that there were police on scene when it happened, so even having cops there did not stop this.

My guess is that he was in the hallways in the back of the theater and had left the door open so he could get back in, we used to do it all the time when I was younger.

He couldn't have kicked it open from the outside...exit doors are required to open out. Either he was inside and blocked it open when he went out or someone inside opened it for him.

Not sure about Colorado but in NC,movie theaters are GUN FREE ZONES.Makes that misdemeanor trespass charge seem worth the risk.

Guess you never went to the Rocky Horror Picture Show? I never dressed up but I did always have the props.

 

I'm praying for these people. Terrible. This was one F-ed up dude. And one completely tragic situation.

And before this becomes a "we need CCW in the movie theater" thread, I'd caution you remember what happens when well trained folks try to bring a handgun to a rifle fight.

I'm sure this guy knew he wouldn't have to expect any resistance in a gun free zone. Maybe knowing that someone, anyone could be armed might give even one BG pause and save one single life.....
