My son is graduating college in December and is entering into law enforcement as a career. For his graduation present, I bought him a Kimber TLE II 1911. (he loves mine, and it's supposed to be used by the LAPD Swat team is my motive for that model) I thought that would be a special gift as this year is the 100 year Anniversary of the 1911 and his graduation is 2011.

I am just curious, What did you, if anything, for this 100 year mark? Did you buy an Anniversary 1911 Model, buy another one or your first, or did you do any modifications to one you own?

I bought my first 1911. I picked up a Ruger SR1911, and it happens to be their first 1911 also !

I fondled and wiped the Remington Rand 1911 given to me on my 16th birthday by my Grandfather George. And then carefully wrapped the orange gas station rag back around it and replaced it in the safe...... As I do about every other month with that gun..

Picked up an SR1911...and I have a Browning 1911-22 on order, if it ever comes in. Also set in on a session with 1911Tuner, and learned more about JMB's greatest design in 3 hours than I thought possible.

Bought a Kimber Super Carry Pro, Willey Clap Colt, an 82nd Airborn Kimber and did some Custom work on my Kimber Stainless Target II.

I bought a 3" Kimber and learned to carry and shoot it. I didn't think it would honor the tradition if it sat in the safe. I was surprised to find I like it better than my poly pistols for CC because of the thin frame.

Have had a couple of 1911s, but all short barrels and most 9mm. Decided it was appropriate to get a full size one in 45 for 2011. Wanted something kind of traditional, but modernized just a tad. Bought a Remington R1 and it might be the most favorite gun I own.

Swapped out the thumb safety for a larger one, scrimshawed up a set of grips and polished the inards. Otherwise bone stock, a ton of fun and competitive in class.
