    28 April 2018,

    Hello, all.

If anyone knows (for sure), does NC utilize a "No Longer in Possesion of" firearms list? It's a list of weapon SERNOs that have been sold (or stolen) so that prior owners are not suspected *if prior owned weapons are ever involved in a crime/shooting.

I've tried Googling it for NC, but nothing's coming up. When I lived in CA, they had a law enforcement division you could submit all weapons info to and they'd annotate that an individual was no longer in possession of that particular firearm. It's a great CYA tactic.

If anyone knows, please point me in the right direction. Thanks, all...

    ~Allen

Just because you SAY you longer have a weapon, do you think the police will just say OK? Same with a BillOfSale that YOU generate. It's a piece of paper with no legal weight.

And stuff like that needs to stay in Commiefornia.... You are volunteering for weapons registration, something we have fought to prevent for decades.

Yeah, I get it. I didn't say it was a get out of jail free card, did I? I said it was used a CYA tactic. No piece of paper is 100% effective at proving anything nowadays anyway. I was however just asking a simple question.

Nc doesn’t register guns. So there’s no log you own them so no log you sold them.

My God, Mike! It helps, man! I've experienced it 'help (CYA) me' firsthand when my SIG was stolen. You're allowed to disagree with me all you want, but quit stating your *opinion as if it were an absolute *fact. Jeez, man, I get it! You think it's pointless which wasn't the question, was it? The question WAS: Does NC utilize anything like the No Longer in Possession list? Breeeathe, man! No need to get upset over a simple question.

The no longer in possession list is just as easily faked as a BOS - it's just your word. Just because you tell the gov that you don't have the gun doesn't mean anything. If it did, every criminal would get off scott free.

How is it CYA? They can't accuse you of committing a crime just because your firearm was found there. If they come knocking on your door, yes officer, I legally sold that firearm a while back. Thank you have a nice day.

Geez guys, it was a simple question. He wanted to know if there was a law requiring this list to be kept. He wasn't pushing any agenda onto us or NC.
    Why the hostility?
IL requires you to keep, for 7 years, a picture of the FOID card of the buyer as well as the date sold.
So, other states require such info.
    It was a simple question.
If we want this community to grow with great guys, lay off the hostility.
    He deserves an apology.

He got an answer, he started calling names, so it's our fault? And what he's asking is if the rest of the country has a weapons registration like the communist state of California. And he seems to be in favor for it. No thanks...

It is sad when the not so free start getting upset and butt hurt when we point out that they are now a little more free.

The problem we have in NC is when liberals move here because it is a nicer place to live and then try to change NC to be like they had back home. That's what ruined the places they came from.

Tailhunter, I thought you had left this place behind. Glad to see some people still stop by.
