Remember HB 937 and the purchase permit fiasco! If your Sheriff is up for reelection this year, do you know where he stands on the North Carolina Purchase permit infringement?

I urge everyone to not vote for a Sheriff that is for keeping, or likes having the power of issuing purchase permits. We have a primary in May. That primary will likely decide our election in my county. Go forth and ask your sheriff where he stands on the issue, and then tell him if you will or will not support his reelection. We have to let these guys know we are not happy with the infringement of the people's rights. Do not ignore this, just because you have that privilege called a Concealed Carry Permit, which is also an infringement, that allows you to bypass the purchase permit. We must stand for the rights of all people!

My Republican sheriff is a DHS shill. He's addicted to DHS dollars. When asked what he would do if the Feds came to confiscate guns, he said, "What can I do? It's the Federal government!" He has absolutely ZERO clue about his N.C. Constitution granted power. He has ZERO idea how to stand up for his citizens. He sends teams of folks off to all the Federal "training" programs. He'd rather be a Fed. than a Sheriff!!! The Highest elected office in any given county! Clueless...

Sounds like Harrison here in Wake county. Only he seems to be ever leading the charge to increase his powers.

Pity he has such a stranglehold on the county, that he will probably die in office.

Is a republican even running for OC Sheriff this year
Yea there is always one or two that run on the republican ticket but they always lose significantly due to the huge libtard base in Chapel Hill which tends to show up for elections. So the race is essentially decided with the primary which three or four have already put their names in the hat.

There are 2 other Dems running against Andrews in Durham County. Why can't the libertarians ot republicans field a candidate?

We have 5 Dems running in Columbus for Sheriff, I'm not hopeful or thrilled. No R's or L's. Almost a waist of time to run as a R in Columbus for local office, even though the county is conservative on social issues and votes R for president. We are still stuck in the Southern Dixiecrat past, and people think Dem's are for the little man.

I don't mean to derail, but what does one look for in a Sheriff? We have elections coming up in Chesterfield County and even the former Sheriff, that was replaced after being accused of misconduct. is running again.

Is there really any alternative to the popularity contest that is an election?

Lets see, what do I want in a sheriff? How about one that will uphold the constitution, be 2A friendly and support a citizens right to own NFA items and be willing to sign off on them. Eliminate the crap to get a PPP or a CCH. One that will not enforce an unconstitutional edict.

In rural Jones County my vote is for Danny Heath. In a personal conversation he has said if you can afford it you should be able to have it. The big election in my area is in Onslow County. You have the current Sheriff Ed Brown of 20 plus years that has recently changed to the republican party and Hans Miller. If I lived there my vote would be for Hans Miller.

Looks like we have four Dems and two Reps running in Cumberland County.

REPUBLICANS:
Victor Burke Starling
Charlie Rozier Baxley JR.

DEMOCRATS:
Jeff Adolph Marks
Charles Frederick Kimble
Terry Lee Isaacs
Earl R. Butler (Incumbent)

The only one I know about is the incumbent, he will not sign off on NFA items. If anybody has any insight on the others, it would be greatly appreciated.

Victor Starling is my pick....local fellow, born and raised here, Fayetteville PD since '87. Strong constitutional supporter. He has said if elected, he will appoint one person to do NFA, class 3, and such....

To consolidate the info from this thread and the other one on the same topic:

Wilson/Caldwell
Baxley or Starling/Cumberland
Griffith or Kirby/Forsyth
Nicholson/Iredell
Heath/Jones
Carmichael/Mecklenburg
Miller/Onlsow

This is just based on the posts here on the board. Obviously we need to see what GRNC gets back on their surveys. But if anyone else knows for sure of a candidate that is going to be very supportive of our 2A rights, post up.
