If you could acquire the funds to move anywhere, US or foreign location, where would it be?

I'd move to Alaska. I do love my Carolina home, but where I am I don't feel isolated enough I guess. Maybe moving into the mountains then but you still have large popn's of people within 250 miles or so.

I can't handle the long nights in Alaska. First trip in the summer to Alaska I was dumb enough to take a flashlight lol

I'm getting old enough that I'd pick a piece of a beach on Costa Rica over Idaho or Montana. Keeping it in the US, perhaps Moab, Utah.

1st choice would be right here in WNC, although not in Buncombe County...and a total flip-flop 2nd choice would be Eleuthera, Bahamas...Gregorytown to be exact.

Not much left to defend there... lol But hey, nothing wrong with a little fixer upper! We did that hike while we were on the island a few years back. Keep trying to make it back there but the time shares on the island are next to impossible to get.
The view ain't too bad, tho. We usually stay at the Wyndham...tried there? You can catch a deal if you look at the right time.

Inlaws have two timeshares with the Starwood group so we did the Westin. They have condos there that we've tried to get into but they are typically booked. I actually have a friend who's mother rents out a house on the island. Last I checked it was around $1200 a week which ain't too bad for the location! Need to get back for sure.

$1200 isn't bad at all. We paid more than that for a house at Rodanthe this year. 'Course...the 'gettin there' costs were much less...

Alaska seems to e all the rage in tv right now. Programs like the Kilchers and buy Alaska and build Alaska, etc.

My first deployment in the Navy was to Adak. They call it "Birthplace of the winds". Arrived in December and departed in May. Got the long nights, sunup at 11 down at 3.

I don't think I could handle the cold or the nights in Alaska. But you are talking my language with a tropical island. I would say first choice is the new house under construction here in SC now. Second would be a private island somewhere in the tropics.
