So we were discussing in chat tonight about cars we had that were a lot of fun to drive and we were sad we let them go.

So lets all post pics of the cars we still wish we had! I'll start with a pretty quick Dodge Charger Hemi that I had. DiabloSport tuner, 20" Dodge Viper rims, CAI, Eibach springs. This thing was F-A-S-T.

I would love to still have my 90 Integra. Lots of fun driving in that car.

I would _really_ love to have my dad's 64 1/2 289 Mustang that he bought new for his honeymoon. He sold it while I was in college (in great shape) and I found out later :-(

My two favorite cars, that I don't have pictures of, were both hatchbacks.

My 1976 Chevy Nova Concours was a hatchback. It was my first car. I didn't let it go. I totaled it. What a dumbazz.

I did sell my 1993 Calypso Green Mustang 5.0 LX. Again, what a dumbazz. LOL.....

It wouldn't be any car I've had in the last 30yrs, all that new crap is a dime a dozen anyway. When I was starting to drive all the cool cars weren't cool cars back then, they were just used cars. I've had a 69 Camaro, 69 Firebird, 71 Charger, 71 Challenger, 71 340 Duster, 68 Riv, 69 RIV, 69 Chevelle and a bunch of others. I think the most expensive one back then was the Camaro, it was sweet and I believe I paid $1100.00 for it.
The one I want back would probably be the 69 Riv.
Ones I'm looking for though are a 65 Riv and a 69 Toronado.

That one is not mine but I had one just like it. 1966 Chevelle 396 L78, Marina Blue. Growing up in the 60's and 70's, I owned some "classics" that I'd like to have now. 2 '55 Chevys, a '56 Chevy, 3 '62 Impalas, '69 GTO, '66 Chevy II, '55 Nomad, are just a few that come to mind. Spent a lot of money on cars.

1987 Corolla FX16 Hatchback. Had one about 12-13 years ago for a short time and let it go. Only found one since then ( actually just in the past 4 months) and its not for sale.

Factory 5 speed. DOHC 1.6L engine, sway bars, great gas mileage, fun little car.

The 4AGZE, 20v silver and black top engines could fit in the front of it. Wish I never got rid of it.

Not my pic, as mine was a dark blue almost black

No pics but mine was a 1968 Mercedes 280SE. She was a European model with all metric guages and the Blaupunkt radio that picked up ufo's. She was all curves and chrome made for German roads not American avenues so there were a lot of features you wouldn't see on American sedans. Dual sway bars, huge 4-wheel disc brakes, fuel injection, etc. She was built like a tank and handled like a sports car. Loved that car.

A few decades ago I missed a'69 DZ Z/28 Camaro unrestored with 22,000 miles. It sat most of it's life in a museum in Illinois. Guy asked $1 for every mile on it and I passed on it.

I had an 88' 5.0 LX Mustang Notchback that was an Ex-Georgia Patrol car, I loved it and sold it.

I have owned numerous Camaros that I miss, from my first, a '71 to my last an '01 SS that made 488rwhp.

Now I drive a Cadi CTS-V, I am including it because I love it and know I am just dumb enough to sell it. It will be a big regret...

My 83 year old Dad has a Cadillac CTS-V. When he got it brand new a few years ago, he got three speeding tickets right in a row. My brothers, sister and I have been joking off and on about the fact that he probably got his license revoked for a time there and just didn't tell anyone. He's getting ready to send it down here from WV so we can take it down to a shop in Mooresville that hot rods these Caddies. Like he really needs to do that. lol.

Most of the cars I've sold I wish I had never bought in the first place, or sold sooner. I used to wish I had my Bronco II back, but when offered the chance to buy another one I turned it down.

Guy came up and knocked on the door to my house one day out of the blue and offered to buy my pickup truck. I turned him down and a few months later the head gasket blew and I ended up selling it for $375.

I wish I had fixed the transmission of the pickup I bought in 2008. I figured out later that sale led me to waste about $10,000 buying and selling unsatisfactory pickups when I could have rebuilt the transmission for less than $2000.

Just to solidify my forum bona fides as a stodgy old geezer...

2006 Cadillac DTS bought new. This a stolen pic but it looks the same as mine. I rented a 1985 Deville for a business trip in 1985 and got so jazzed about it that I wanted one. Finally bought one new 21 years later. Sold it in 2010 after the economy and my business cratered...
and I learned that it cost a grand to replace one HID headlamp due to having to remove the front bumper.

2002 4Runner.

Still have it.

Would probably sell my soul before I'd sell it.

no digital pics....

'66 Mustang Coupe that I bought when I was 15 (1987) out of a barn.

We hauled it up on a flatbed and brought it home. I spent the better part of 4 summers getting that thing put together. My first job was at the body shop where we did all the work. I would work sanding/painting customer cars and doing crap jobs so I could use their shop nights/weekends to do work on my car.

- completely rebuilt the 200 in-line 6
- rebuilt transmission
- welded new floor pans
- replaced fenders, repaired 1/4 panels.
- welded in new trunk liner
- sourced all new interior pieces - carpet, vinyl black/white trunk liner, head liner
- fresh candy apple red paint
- tires, brakes, etc.

By the time I was done with it, it was a beauty!

Only thing I never got around to 'fixing' was the ignition switch. Instead of using a key to fire it up, the entire switch would come out of the dash, so a well placed screw driver or slipping the switch into place and turning it "just so" would get her running.

When we moved to NC I had no place to store it, so it got sold for far less than I had into it.

What I really miss most though is the work. Those skills (welding, paint, mechanical) have pretty much eroded after nearly 20 years working behind a desk. Even my time as an equipment mechanic in the Navy (CM2/SCW) didn't hold up to having to figure it all out myself and make it work. At the battalion level, Navy mechanics are essentially oil and part changers, not much real 'fixing' going on.
