I'm getting ready to close an account there. Because of my business, and one my wife owns we have several accounts at maybe 4 banks. I have yet to see a gunbuster sign. Glad I'm moving out from that bank.

I don't always carry close to home, expecially with the teens in and out of the car, and at their schools, but I always carry when I'm headed to the bank.

I know you meant that as a rhetorical question.

We are not even covered if it is a business account and someone pilfers our username/password for on-line banking and steals funds, unless the bank's own systems were compromised.
That was actually a serious question. Seems the banks post with the excuse of safety yet make no provisions for your safety entering or leaving the bank and most don't even have armed guards inside anymore.

I think about the robberies I have read about where a customer in line might never even know that the guy ahead of him has slipped a note to the teller saying he has a weapon, and to hand over cash. The banks don't want a shoot out. Too much potential for collateral damage.

Nevertheless, I intend to defend myself going and coming.

EDIT- I just checked the FDIC.gov website- To answer the question, it appears deposits are insured. If your money is in the parking lot coming or going, or in your pocket for that matter in the branch, I am assuming you are SOL if robbed.

No banks around these small towns near me have armed guards. Last time I seen an Armed Guard at a bank was a few years ago at a BOA at Myrtle Beach.

It is the principal for me.
I'd argue that the owners at the highest levels, i.e. Holdings, and of other banks, Warren Buffet are of the liberal mindset, and as far as guns in their banks, or anywhere else? That ship has sailed.

I am just glad to be able to carry in the other banks for now before they too get posted. Beyond that? One does what one has to do to protect oneself.
