Garden Torch

OK, guys. I have one of these Harbor Freight "el Cheapo" garden blow torches. You know, the kind for burning off weeds along fence lines, etc. I'm running it straight off a grill tank. The flame keeps blowing out. I'm suspecting too-high gas pressure. Do I need to get a regulator for this thing?

TIA!

It's the cheaper one, without the piezo igniter. Flame is a nice healthy blue. It's always done this, and it's beginning to get aggravating, ya know? Burn 3', relight, burn 3 feet, relight... I can't pull the trigger fully without it flaming out in a second or two.

ok so it burns good until you pull the lever then it goes out??? look around for some air vents . it should have a way to suck air in as it releases more gas . could be small holes which might be plugged. the pictures werent that great on the website so i could tell
in order to burn properly it needs equal amounts of air and gas

It mixes the air right in the burner head. I don't see any mixer vents before the burner nozzle.

I looked at the online manual. I did not see anything about using a regulator to stepdown the pressure.

If you light it with the knob/valve just cracked, will it stay lit when you squeeze the trigger?

Realize it is unlikely, but don't put cylinder on side it will push liquid out. Bad Thing unless you want a Daisy Cutter.

Good Luck. Be Safe. Burns Hurt.
