<edit 03-July>To save reading for anyone new to this thread, Grits is adopting Wolf. Thanks so much to ***everyone*** here who worked to make this happen!!! </edit>

Hey all. I've come across this dog that needs a home. It's a friend of a co-worker, so I have no direct connection, I'm just putting it out there in case anyone is looking for a dog. Located in Wake Forest, and needs to find a home *ASAP*. It's down to the last day the owner can keep him. I can help with transportation.

<edit>look lower in the thread where I post more details about the dog, and the family's situation. </edit>

"Wolf" is a 7 year old German Shepard. Very well behaved - good with kids - inside dog. (Cats don't seem to bother him.). Is ok with other dogs, but he's an alpha.

he is fixed. I have owners contact info if you want to discuss more details with her. Reason today is the last day - family is moving to apt that doesn't allow pets, and has to be out of current residence today

My family would be interested, but we already have 2 rescue dogs. We'd also keep him for a while to find a home, but we're leaving tomorrow for a trip, so are not able to keep him for the next week.

Look at that sweet face. Someone needs to give him a home. If I could I would but my house is full with several rescues plus one that had surgery and has to be kept separate from the others.

If anybody is willing to give Wolf a great home all sponsor his vetting and also pay for a six month supply of heartworm and flea and tick prevention.

I wish I could, but the old lady would probably beat me

When I get home in a few hours I'll update the ad with more info. It looks like we have a few more days to find him a home. And thanks to Hub offering to pay for boarding, we can keep him next week if needed until he finds a home

I found out more details about the family situation... The dad is suddenly out of the picture - what I heard was "went crazy" and is now in jail for a long time. Mom is now on her own with 3 kids and having to move to apt that won't allow her to keep the dog. Sad situation.

More details about Wolf from the owner - he has mostly been an inside dog, so should be good for someone who lives in a neighborhood. They close him in the bathroom when they are not home, and he loves it there and sleeps in the tub. He has never been aggressive towards people, other than being protective of the family. He is 120 pounds. More pics:

A little more info: he may need to be brought up to date on shots and heartworm treatment. Also, rides in a car well - sits on a blanket in the front. And will not get on furniture unless a sheet is put down for him. Owner says he's very smart

I hope that you guys can adopt him. He looks like he will be a great dog. We currently have six permanent dogs here on the farm so the inn is full.

Sucks for the kids to lose both their dad as well as their dog....

Just my personal opinion but I would give up everything I own or possess before I'd give up Lucy. I know in my heart she would give up everything for me.......We be Buds.....
I can sympathize with her situation but can't she find a relative or a friend to keep him temporarily until she's back on her feet??

Still available and looking for a home. We seem to have a place figured out for him for the weekend, and then if no one has taken him yet, I'll have him for at least a week while we keep looking for a home

Let's discuss this week. I'll be headed from apex to kernersville Friday (08-July) for work, and I can keep going past kernersville on i40 west, and then I think 64? It's a long ride depending where you want to meet, but I'm willing to do it

My wife's non-profit veterinary practice (www.snap-nc.org) is willing to bring him current on his shots and give him a heartworm test at no charge if someone can bring him to the SNAP-NC mobile hospital on either Tuesday, July 5 in Brier Creek, Thursday July 7 in Henderson, or Friday July 9 in Holly Springs.

PM me for more details if interested.

The people here are outstanding. My wife will never beleive this. All of the offers to help out.

The wife and I had talked about getting another dog. I wanted a German Shepherd. Somthing that would be protective of the wife.

I hesitated when this was first posted. The distance to get him and such. When he was still here the next day, well let's try.

You great people would move heaven and hell if were necessary. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Do you need two? I had a guy call about a 2 year old female that needed a home too.

If you want to take him to his local vet and get on track with his medical attention I'll pay the bill.
I can do PayPal or a check or cash or call the vet with a CC number.
If you get his vet stuff taken care of locally I'll meet you in Kernersville and take him to Forrest City.
Let me know.....
