Anyone have a recommendation? Something with an ocean view would be a plus. Heading down with the wife tomorrow for a trade show and want to do a nice dinner afterwards.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Ha! I just got off of Google Earth trying to locate Sea Captain's House so I could give Krabba it's whereabouts. You beat me to it. Krabba, Sea Captain's House is it. It's on the beach and has very good seafood............... DaveThe best of all the places the wife and I ate at.

I think that's the Inlet Crab House. Not waterfront though, but good.Best seafood we have had in years was at Murrell's Inlet about a half mile off 17. Just past the biker bar (Suck-blow-etc) about a quarter mile on the right. Parking lot is of glass beads. Go early or face a line. Said I would not forget the name but older age, you know. We all talked about how good it was. Got tickled so much---was showing my brother what happened when the defibulator shocked me while cutting a limb for the tree stand. Jumped and wiggled a bit but these two waitresses saw it and rushed over thinking I was in trouble. Embarrassing but so funny--had to have been there.
Yep, that's the Inlet Crab House. One of the best on the whole Grand Strand, in my opinion. It's not water front, but after a great meal, drive a mile south and stroll on the Marsh Walk. Lots of bands playing outside, just a nice place to go.Best seafood we have had in years was at Murrell's Inlet about a half mile off 17. Hookers and blow man, hookers and blow! I'm sure he could be persuaded.Ha, if y'all can get past my crazy cousin with his AR and itchy trigger finger have at it!
Thanks for all the info guys!
Those are my favorite kind of places for seafood at the beach. Hole in the wall style. There are so many Restaurants in the area along the grand strand. It's mostly Calabash style seafood, which means fried, and the best restaurant is the one that changed their grease last.
The one's already listed have the best aubance overlooking the water, which sounds like what you are looking for. If you want the best and freshest seafood while in the area, head just across the Stateline off Hwy 17 into Calabash, NC. Head toward the docks. Choose a Restaurant, Seafood Hut, Ella's, Coleman's, Dockside ect........ Ask what is in season, and order that. These joints are not fancy, they look like they have been frying fish for 50+ years, because they have.
Glad you enjoyed your visit to the Sea Captain's House. Wonderful seafood in my opinion. We ended up going to Sea Captain's House last night and it was very good. Great view and the crab stuffed flounder (my entree) and crab cakes (the wife's) were both tasty. The she-crab soup was too thin for my liking, but flavorful. We both really enjoyed our jumbo lump crab and avocado appetizer.
Excellent experience overall as we had drinks on the rear lawn overlooking the beach as we waited a short time for our table and after dinner drinks in one of the two bench swings outback as the sun set.
Thanks to the guys who recommended it. I'd certainly go again and would recommend it to anyone headed that way. Who knows, your wife may even be REALLY nice to you back at the hotel after the romantic dinner.![]()
I'm glad it worked out for you Krabba. It is a nice place. To expand upon Silver_Bullet's and skiles comments, the "hole in the wall" establishments can be great. One time, back in 1981, me and a friend of mine were in Melbourne, Fl visiting my cousins and we hitchhiked down to the Vero Beach area to lay out on the beach. When we headed back to Melbourne later that evening, while hitchhiking, we came across this little hut that had a few picnic tables inside, sitting right on the beach. The place looked like a dump. Best seafood I've ever had. But Sea Captain's House is a great place to eat in Myrtle. Glad you and the Mrs. enjoyed it.................
