I went up to the NC Arms Collectors show in Salisbury today and looked around. It was a great show for someone into c&r, small, but loaded with nice stuff. Within 10 minutes I found a G43, an SVT and a FN59. Only a few nagants running around today, all of them higher end/rarer stuff. Several good deals on Garands and different Mausers.

But, I came away with a 1941 Izzy, Finnish wartime capture and re-arsenal with nearly all matching numbers (only the buttplate doesn't match.. sigh). One piece fin hardwood stock, great metal and very nice looking wood. It's packed with grease and needs some tlc, but I think it'll make an a great additon to my growing stack of nagants.

How were the prices on the G43 and the SVT if you don't mind me asking? I've always liked both, but to me the SVT was really the only "affordable" one of the two, IMHO.
I want an SVT40 also, but with a $800-900 price tag I'm more inclined to get another Garand.

Both were high $ ones, the guys were haggling but the g43 had a $2500 tag on it and the svt had a $1500 one. With cash you could have prob picked up either one for $200-300 less than they were asking. The g43 was one of the better ones I've ever seen and they knew it, it didn't have an import mark on it so it was either a bring back or got in the country before 1968. The svt was nice, almost all matching, no electro-pencil and was a cai import. Both of them were collector pieces, but if my tax return had come back by now I'd prob have gotten the g43.

About 6 years ago I saw an SVT 40 at a gun show for $450 and thought "Wow that's too much". Granted, I knew next to nothing about them and would have had to have worked for nothing for a while to pay for it but I still kick myself for it.
About 2 years ago I was on a web-site (don't remember the name), and they had SVT40's for $399.95 plus $20 shipping ;hubba. I got my credit card out, clicked add to cart and went through the ordering process. When I got to the end to confirm my order I realized they were in Canada LOL. ;poo
