As more and more scat hits the blades in more and more places, I become less and less concerned about the pure legalities of carrying.

True, but I'm alot less worried about shooting down stairs or in a yard than I am in an apartment with paper thin walls. And I'll wager there are less tweakers in Belews Creek than there are in Greensboro.

 

Yet another example of your head and your self defense knowledge being your best weapon. Be ever aware of your surroundings, look inside convenience stores as you approach rather than just blindly going through the door...you may see something that makes you decide to stay outside!

 

Greensboro seems to be a very good example of high crime areas overlapping into rather nice areas. The area in question is a rough section of town though.

 

Over 20 years ago, I was in a convenience store in the DC metro area that got robbed as I was in line to pay. Two guys, each with a handgun, walked into the store, drew down on us and the clerk. The robbers told us all to take the items we had in our hands and leave the store. We all left fast. I left my stuff outside and drove away as fast as the rest of the customers did. If I remember right, this was late afternoon. I was just glad that other then the pucker factor, we all did not get hurt. My NY CCW was not valid there so getting more involved was not an option, which luckily worked out for the best in that situation.

 

I helped open the pizza hut in the walmart shopping center out there... They wanted me to be a delivery driver and I eagerly told them no way in hell.
