If yes, where did you get it done & how much was it?

I've been wearing glasses for as long as I can remember & I hate them more than Obama.

EDIT for Update!

I just got back from my consultation with TLC in Greensboro.

I'm a good candidate for the surgery. I also found out that I'm right eye dominant, that the reason I get headaches when I go from a dark room to light room is because I have large pupils.

The total surgery is $4,400 & I have $1,315 right now. My surgery is on the 07-16-2009.

So I'm going to need ya'll to stop by the flea market & buy something before then. If you see anything you like, ask me & I might can lower the price some on it.

They put some drops in my eyes to make them dilated & now I can barely see the screen, so if I use the wrong smily's or my grammar takes a turn for the worst, please forgive me.

i guess the date is obvious, i took this pic of the monitor that families can
view while my wife had hers done. mine arent done yet and i dont see
much reason to yet. i took the shot right at the time the doctor moves
the laser cut flap out of the way so that the other laser could make the
surface corrections.

I had PRK done for free..my wife works for the doctor. Wore glasses and contacts since 17. Now I'm 20/20. It took like 2 weeks to heal all the way,,but the flap way was not for me. After 1 month I was almost 20/20 and in 3 months it was 20/20. The flap can have more issues,,with PRK the doctor can take some more off in the future(if not 20/20). It was over with each eye in @ 5 seconds,,your vision goes white,he rinses it off with cool water then put on a "bandage" contact. Do your drops 3 times a day,,do follow ups and enjoy. The hardest thing was waking up and not getting my glasses or contact drops. DO IT!

I did the spendy TLC all-laser LASIK back in 2005 and went from -7.0 contacts to 20/20 vision with no problems. Best money I've spent. Picture above makes me cringe, I talked with a bunch of co-workers that used TLC and went with them, avoiding reading all the what-if's enumerated in their High-risk packet that I got.

My wife had her eyes done in Texas 2003. It was an surgeon not one of the cheep lasik clinics. It was about 3500.00. She says it is the best thing she has ever done!

I went to a lasik clinic a year or so later for a "check it out". Received a coupon in the Sunday paper for half off. Walked in, talked to a very impatient technician who only wanted to schedule the lasik and not talk procedure. It was a very scary place. The folks in that place acted like the people working at McD. They were very flip-it and acted as if my questions were childish and they were superior.

Needless to say I left and never had it done. I would recommend a ophthalmic surgeon who will do pre screening interviews, pre sugery prep, private followups for about 6 months to 1 year.

these for life were included in my wifes high dollar tag. well worth the dough. Also, if for any reason her vision dips below 20/20, they will perform a corrective procedure that is covered under the original guarantee. she can have it done at any TLC she wants or has to go to.

Doctor my wife worked for had advised his patients for years not to get PRK or LASIK done until it was proven. He was about legally blind without his glasses. Had to put them on to go to the bathroom at night.
Then one night he had it done and went in to work the next day raving about how well he could see.
So I had it done. About nine years ago. By the same doctor that did his.

His staff made a topographical map of both eyes that they used in the computer-driven LASIK to control the burn. They normally burn one eye for distance and the other for near vision and your brain compensates (you don't notice unless you really try). I had both burnt for distance. Have to wear reading glasses for anything close up.

But I can just about count the leaves on trees down at the river (a quarter mile away).

Same goes for PRK,,,They "map" the eye surface,,,the laser burns off what its told by computer. One eye for close,,r eye for distance(shooting) but I do not use reading glasses for up close. You can do one at a time but get both done. You have "bandage " contacts and the drops. Once the contacts are out just keep using the drops 3-4 times a day for 2-3 weeks. What ever you choose enjoy.
