Many industry experts have expected that many of the "for profit" insurance carriers would pull out of various state health-insurance exchanges, but not so much for "non-profit" Blue Cross at the state level.
It's my understanding that BCBSNC has told the NC Dept of Insurance (DOI) that they will stay in NC for 2017, but as of last week the 2017 rates were not out yet.
Blue Cross in TN has decided to pull out of TN for next year, even though they were granted a 60% premium increase for next year. Blue Cross Nebraska has also elected to pull out, even in spite of the 42% premium increase that they were granted.
I knew there would be increases this year, but those numbers seem staggering to me.
And congress had the gall to call it the ACA*
*Affordable Care Act.
